New System........Only Getting 10Mbps

I have just built a new system using an ASUS P4C-800E. The MOBO has integrated gigabit LAN via the Intel Pro/1000. I have installed Windows XP Professional and I have used the latest Intel drivers downloaded from the ASUS website. I also installed the Intel management utility included on the CD included with the MOBO. This computer and 2 other similar systems are connected to a Netgear RT314 router which is connected to cable broadband.
The problem is that the best connection I can get on this new system is 10Mbps instead of the 100Mbps it should be connecting at. All the other systems on the network are connected at 100Mbps as was the system that this one replaced on the same LAN connection. The card is set to auto-negotiate the best connection speed but when I try to force 100Mbps Full Duplex it will connect for a few seconds on both the computer and the router and then show that the LAN connection has been disconnected. This continues until I set the card back to auto-negotiate and establishes 10Mbps once again. When I run the "Test Link Speed" a box pops up saying that "a CAT5 cable is required. I have switched CAT5 cables with a known good cable with no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is the NIC on the MOBO the problem? HELP!!!!!!!!!!

hmmm, so even set at auto it only connects at 10?

that is weird, I'd try different drivers and make sure you're using the right ones.

The drivers I used that I downloaded from the website are the same ones on the CD. I don't think the drivers are the problem unless they are corrupt in some way but I am not getting any strange errors. The only problem concerns the speed issue.

check the properties for the NIC, sometimes theres an option for the speed (10 half, 10 full, etc) sometimes the factory default is 10 and has to be changed to 100 or 1000...also check your router settings (usually can be accessed by typing 192.168.0.1 in the IE adress bar) they also sometimes have the same type of limitations

I know you changed cables, but do try a different port on the router if you can. It helps to eliminate all the possibilities.
