Hi everyone, I'm having some issues with the new Epox 9NDA3J and Athlon 64 3000+ that i just purchased from Newegg. When i attempt to power up the system the fans will spin for about a second and then shut down.
I did a search for the forums and followed some suggestions, unfortunately I haven't had much luck.
My power supply is a Seasonic 400 watt Super Silencer. I have also tried an old 300 watt power supply. I have made sure with both to plug in the 4 pin connector.
I've unplugged all other components, so that only the motherboard, CPU, and power supply are hooked up. Occasionally when i attempt to power up the system it will load up and the motherboard will show the error code for having no RAM installed. If i turn off the system and attempt to power up again, it will have the same issue with the system not starting up.
I've tried seating the motherboard directly on the foam/anti-static bag that it came in and tried powering up from there with the same result.
I had started off using a Zalman CNPS7000A Al-Cu fan. Upon experiencing this issue i also switched to the AMD fan that came with my retail CPU package.
I have also tried taking the case out of the equation and attempted to short the pins for the power on the motherboard with a jumper with the same failure.
Any other ideas on how to narrow down the problem? Or is it possible one of the components is damaged? Only the CPU and motherboard are new, and the other parts i'm using have worked fine until tonight on a mobile Athlon XP system.
Thanks in advance!
