Hey guys,
I should really be able to answer these questions on my own, but I feel like I should come here anyways. This is going to be a build log for my two new computers and also a question thread for me. About a week ago my F@H/gaming/server rig died. Memory controller on the 680i went. It was to be expected because I made a few mistakes on that rig. SPP vs MCP voltages. vDIMM. and forgetting to watercool the chipset on the notoriously hot 680i (and also forgetting a T-line so it's going to be a b!tch to drain. So now I'm going to RMA the 680i (I still have my EVGA Advanced RMA left) and retire that computer to F@H when I get it back. Who would've thought the SPP on the eVGA 680i would die from running at +0.2v @ 92C for a few months, then at +0.1v @ 47C would die before running my E6400 I've had at 3.6GHz 1.55v for 6 months.
So. Question 1: ANSWERED
Would the Apogee GTX w/ CU top or GTZ be better for a Core i7? I have both, and one is going to go on my Q6600 and the other on a Core i7 920.
Question 2:
Does anyone know if the Swiftech NBMax fits on the P6T NB block? I know a standard MCW30 would, but I would prefer the NBMax. I don't know if the mounting holes are correct.
Question 3: ANSWERED
How do you drain if the only point you can easily cut the tubing is one of the highest points on the loop? Just let it drain til the water is only sitting in the low points, and then work from there?
Question 4: ANSWERED
Laing D4 or D5 or DDC-3.2 w/ top?
Question 5: ANSWERED
Is the Fesser X-Changer 120.3 or the Thermochill PA 120.3 better with low-speed fans (such as a volt-modded Yate-Loon DS12H)?
Question 6:
Would a Swiftech MCW60-Rev2 be a decent replacement in lieu of a full-cover block?
So here's the new set ups that won't be built until the end of January. I already own most of the cooling parts.
