Hey guys,

I should really be able to answer these questions on my own, but I feel like I should come here anyways. This is going to be a build log for my two new computers and also a question thread for me. About a week ago my F@H/gaming/server rig died. Memory controller on the 680i went. It was to be expected because I made a few mistakes on that rig. SPP vs MCP voltages. vDIMM. and forgetting to watercool the chipset on the notoriously hot 680i (and also forgetting a T-line so it's going to be a b!tch to drain. So now I'm going to RMA the 680i (I still have my EVGA Advanced RMA left) and retire that computer to F@H when I get it back. Who would've thought the SPP on the eVGA 680i would die from running at +0.2v @ 92C for a few months, then at +0.1v @ 47C would die before running my E6400 I've had at 3.6GHz 1.55v for 6 months.

So. Question 1: ANSWERED
Would the Apogee GTX w/ CU top or GTZ be better for a Core i7? I have both, and one is going to go on my Q6600 and the other on a Core i7 920.

Question 2:
Does anyone know if the Swiftech NBMax fits on the P6T NB block? I know a standard MCW30 would, but I would prefer the NBMax. I don't know if the mounting holes are correct.

Question 3: ANSWERED
How do you drain if the only point you can easily cut the tubing is one of the highest points on the loop? Just let it drain til the water is only sitting in the low points, and then work from there?

Question 4: ANSWERED
Laing D4 or D5 or DDC-3.2 w/ top?

Question 5: ANSWERED
Is the Fesser X-Changer 120.3 or the Thermochill PA 120.3 better with low-speed fans (such as a volt-modded Yate-Loon DS12H)?

Question 6:
Would a Swiftech MCW60-Rev2 be a decent replacement in lieu of a full-cover block?

So here's the new set ups that won't be built until the end of January. I already own most of the cooling parts.

GTZ is most definitely better then the GTX.

Heres another to make you cringe and cry.

Jab-tech and Sidewinders should carry my custom blocks for sale for the p6T-Deluxe VERY soon.

My custom builder made 25 sets to go out to the vendors last week.

Here is my P6T-Deluxe Final Package:

Q1. use the Swiftech,
Q2. clueless here too.
Q3. you got it, drain as best you can, pack the box with paper towels and work the high spots first. Dust the rig with compressed air first, if you do spill mud puddles won't help.
If you have an air compressor you can blow the water through, cut the loop at the high point, add lengths of tubing to both sides to keep the water away from the rig and run air through, low pressure! the rads won't handle more than 10 or 15 lbs, not to mention the barb / hose connections.

Tip and turn will help no matter what way you decide to empty the loop but you won't dry the loop, keep towels in the box.

Why do you do this to me Aigo? Do you need to torture me? You're only 2 hours away from where I live.

Yeah, I'll look, but I need to keep my budget in check. And the HAF has a lot of air moving so even if I stick with the NBMAX, the rest of the HS will get a lot of airflow.

Thanks WB.

Anytime, sorry I couldn't be more help with the blocks. I'm not current with the new toys but from what I read the new chips are heaters. New blocks will be out and I'm thinking the low restriction high flow will be the key unless your buying an Iwaki pump to power a "dual inlet" impingement block I think the high flow like the d-tek V1 will be most efficient. Don't know, just a gut feeling. I hardly use my quad so unless home PC takes a dramatic turn in regards to a need for more cores I'll be sticking with my Q6600.
Keep us posted with the outcome.

Haha. I saw that a while ago. I'm over at XS.org too Aigo, though you usually don't see any posts from me.

Yeah, I saw that block, but the NBMAX is specifically made for Asus's Fusion block and I was wondering if the new P6T mount was the same as the RAMPAGE Fusion block's mount.

EDIT: I'm kinda looking forward to the CM HAF-932. You can mount 3x 120mm fans on top, and even though they're not spaced like the Thermochill, I'll make it work. It'll be nice to finally mount that beast internally without a MM UFO.

I mounted my 360 radiator on top... well... underneath the top... err... underneath the 3X120mm fans underneath the top

Well, I have another question now. How much better is a Laing D5 or DDC w/ top over a Laing D4?

The best I can offer is this, download Martins flow rate estimator today, (the site won't be up much longer) and run it. I don't have the 650 but I do have the 655 and a pair of DCC 3.2 w/ XSPC tops. I'm currently using the res tops. The DCC put out a little more noise but the head and flowrate are better for the DCC 3.2

D4 = bad.. loud and noisey...

D5 = good... but ugly and bulky...

DDC-3.2 = excellent, however more expensive then all the above with top options.

Difference in h2o temps from the three?? wont be more then 1-2C coolant side.

Loud and noise doesn't bother me. This is going into my secondary rig which will be used about 10% of the time. For $30, I can't argue with the D4.

Another quick Q. Is the Fesser X-Changer 120.3 or the Thermochill PA 120.3 better with low-speed fans (such as a volt-modded Yate-Loon DS12H)?

the TC because its larger...

But the fesser will get close... And would be easier to fit..

And another. Would the MCW60 w/ GTX 200 heatsink be a decent replacement for a full-cover block?

EDIT: I pulled the plug anyways. But I'll keep an answer in mind when I get a second GTX 260.

Well, I ran out of money so I can't get the second radiator, nor a second pump. I have everything else.

Today I started modding my HAF 932. Got the TC PA 120.3 inside and the top PSU mount was in the way. Chopped it right off. And added 2 temp monitors to the front. Still waiting for my CPU, mobo, and waterblocks...

If I had a wife, that would be the first thing that would come to mind.

EDIT: Also, I finally drained my old system. Tygon tubing is a nice stained blue. haha. Remarkably easy to drain without a drain port because of the way it was set up. Thanks gravity!

So... apparently my 680i killed 4 sticks of RAM. I thought the memory controller died. Nope. I stuck the RAM from the atom computers into my 680i, and BAM. It boots. Looks like I'll be undervolting my 680i from now on.... and now to find money for a case, PSU, and a CUDA-GPU for it.

So I am broke again, but I bought the rest of the cooling components for all computers. I'll have everything by next Tuesday and then I'll start posting stuff.

While waiting for my mobo and PSU, I've been sleeving all cables in my case. I almost sleeved all of my WC tubing because the largest sleeves fit over it and I have no other use for them!!!
