is by far the best city on the planet.
The smell only applies to the subway, I'll easily give you that, but they have made significant improvements since the early 90s. Parking is worse in Boston. I drive out to NYC about twice a month... and I've been to Boston on equivalent nighttimes. Worse parking of the two = Boston.Originally posted by: SP33Demon
Cons: Real estate and groceries (overall C.O.L.) are through the roof (inflated 20%). Driving sux, finding parking is even more of a nightmare. It smells like God took a huge dump on the city and didn't flush, with the air quality the equivalent of smoking a cig/day.

apt hunting in nyc no fun
Well, I'm sure the Subway smells even worse. All I know is the hundred or so times when I drove from South NJ up to the city, I had to immediately turn the vent in my car off due to the putrid smell. It was so bad it would dry out my contacts and irritate my eyes just driving with the windows down. It starts in Northern NJ and is just as bad, if not worse, in NYC (due to the smog pushed up from the south like DE, and the jet stream pushing the WV/OH pollution east).Originally posted by: rh71

There's a reason the T needs to be clean.
As fact, the worst air is in Westchester, just north of NYC. Reports have shown this. I drive through all these areas (upstate NY, Westchester, NYC, LI) and don't "detect" a difference. Must be pure air where you're from... bottle that up, make a buck or two.Originally posted by: SP33Demon

Having been to both NYC and Chicago, I have to give the nod to NYC in terms of beautiful women. It seems like three quarters of the Chicago population are obese. I've never seen so many overweight people in my life. And what's with the Popeye's Chicken restaurants on practically every block in Chicago? No wonder they're such lardasses. Downtown Philly is also one of those great cities where you can just walk and see everything.

why not walk? even if you get a free car/gas, you should still walk it sometimes.Originally posted by: freebee
Yeah, you try driving in the city. Its the most horrible thing, I work in midtown, takes me 40 min to go 4 blocks.
But I get free city parking with my own little space so its not all bad.
Central Park is awesome. Have you iceskated there, too?Originally posted by: NakaNaka

Ha. I've lived in Manhattan my entire life but am now at college in Chicago (Northwestern). NYC is 10x better than Chicago. I miss it there so much. And you are 100% of correct, nothing beats the women of NY.
As for inflated prices on groceries, you just need to know where to shop.
And Central Park is truly the most amazing thing. I love walking through there during the spring/fall and rollerblading during the summer. The winter time, if it's not too cold, it is so great just to play in the snow and act 12 (except take your gf to offset the 12 part )
