newbie ? on mapped drives

I have 2 computers running Win 2k Pro in a workgroup setting. When i boot up the 2nd computer which is mapped to the main computer will hang for about 1.5 to 2 minutes till it makes th connection and finishes booting up its a 10Mbs network it this a normal bootup time for the 2nd computer? Anyway to improve it. :disgust:

I can't find it in my WinXP machine, but I know in Win98 there was an option for the system to not actually check the connection until you tried to access the drive. So, maybe Win2k has this, and if so that might speed things up a bit.
