I am getting sick and tired of my room being the hottest room in the house! My pc just creates to much heat. Right now I am running a a64 3200 with 9800 pro. What would be the best and easiest water cooling solution? I was looking at the Reserator 1 and it looked pretty strait forward and had good reviews. Give me your opinons.

water cooling will not cool your room. your pc will still put out just as much heat as before. only way to remove heat from your room is to get an air conditioner or a cooler pc.

Yup. In fact, a water cooling system will actually make your room hotter.

All that computer cooling does is move heat away from hot compononents (cpu heatsink moves heat from cpu into case, case fans move heat from case into room). Water cooling will make the room hotter as it's more efficient at moving the heat out of your computer (water transfers heat from cpu / gpu / northbridge to radiator, fans move heat from radiator to outside of case).

If you put the radiator in a different room or outside then your room will be cooler. Alternatively you could duct the exhaust air from the rad to the outside. Or just put the rad in front of an open window.

Ya my comp is right next to a window, so I would put the radiator there. But for the reserator 1, what do you guys think about it?

I just built an Athlon 64 3200+ system, and combined with my other PIII 700mhz system, I could probably scramble eggs on the floor in that room, it seriously gets a few degress easily hotter than the hallway to the room. When its cool outside, I open the window and its all good but when its hot out there it sucks.

Oh well, I guess Ill save on the heating bill in winter!

The reserator will put just as much heat into your room, of course. Its probably a good product if you are not overclocking. If you are overclocking then forget it.

I haven't gotten a first hand look at it, but it does look neat. As far as it's ability to cool: dunno. See if you can get one locally for a test run. I'm not a big fan of passive cooling. The $$$ you would spend on the Reserator would be better spent on a good rad, cpu and chipset block, pump, and tubing. Don't forget the water wetter from Red Line. See here:

Your room will still pretty much be the same temperature with water cooling as opposed to standard air cooling. Afterall, your system componenets will still be generating heat, heat that will eventually be dissipated by the reservoir into the surroundings of your room.

Your system components of course will be cooler. But you shouldn't expect your room to be cooler also. Well, not by much - i'm thinking about the water retaining some heat, but to all effect, temp will be the same, maybe even hotter as you'll be able to o/c more and hence get your hardware working even harder.

I've had a Reserator connected to a shuttle XPC system with Athlon64 3400 and 6800 Ultra for 2 weeks now. (Note that the GPU cooling block is purchased seperately).

CPU and GPU are both running coller than they were with stock coolers, and the Reseratopr is warm to the touch, but I haven't measured its reservoir or external temperature. It'll definitely heat your room just like any other heat exchange system, exactly like previous posters have advised here.

BUT ITS SO (quiet) !!!

Danger Den's web site has everything you need to do a complete system. I would recommend the RBX or TDX cpu blocks. A regular chipset block. A radiator that will fit your case. Get their 12 volt pump. Stick with 1/2" ID tubing and fittings. If you have never done water cooling, definately do your home work. The web and Maximum PC mag (CPU as well) are where I got all my info on how. If you like to see some pics of my rig, email me @ stevennoland0146@msn.com and I'll send ya some.

That's good advice. I'd go with the TDX because it mounts with more stability and has two barbs instead of three. I wouldn't get a chipset block though. Why watercool something that only puts out 20W of heat?

It help with system stability and increase potential for overclocking.
