The Newegg rep might have misspoken, saying "verify your credit card address" out of habit instead of "PayPal address," then Micrornd ran with it and imagined Newegg had his CC number and had accessed its info.
Without a transcript it's hard to guess exactly what happened, but I'm going to trust Newegg on this one.
"Our customer service team does not have the ability to see any credit card numbers but we will have a section that will tell us if the information matches or not matches. This gives our CS team the ability to assist you further without providing any of your credit card information."
But yes, the CSR did recite the last 4 digits of my CC number and say the billing address did not match the shipping address, and since it was on the phone, I have no transcript.
"All orders placed runs through an automated verification process with your financial provider."
In this case that was Paypal, not my CC.
Paypal does have both addresses verified and listed as primary and secondary for shipping and Chase (my CC) has a billing/shipping address and an authorized additional shipping address (because of this I checked both and they still remain that way), and no other business I've dealt with since using Papal (2001) has ever had a problem with that.
And the only way to know my billing address and shipping address are not the same is to contact Chase using my CC number.
I have no problem with those that doubt.
You're free to spin this any way you wish.
Tilting at windmills never pays off.
I'm sure my business means nothing to Newegg in the scheme of things.
A shame really.
So since all the above is impossible according to Newegg, I am content to take my business elsewhere and close this thread.
Merry Christmas to all, I got more parties to go to
