I bought 2 120mm fans from newegg and put them in as case fans in early January, by middle of Feb, one has all but one LED out, the other has all the LED's still on, but the whole fan blade just "fell out" of the fan, yes, just came off the motor and was hanging down which stopped the fan of course.
Well these were only around 4.00 each, not worth a RMA to me, but was worth a note sent to NewEgg about the crappy fans, simply stating they have a good rep and crap like this, even tho cheap, couldnt be good for business, and just alearting Newegg to the crappy fans.
Suggested they stop selling these worthless fans, you know, no big deal, just letting them know i wasnt blaming them, didnt want a RMA, just that this brand of fan was worthless. It was a week ago i emailed them, yesterday in the mail was a check from Newegg for 8.00 and change, and a note saying sorry for the inconvinence.
Didnt ask for any money back, didnt ask for RMA, and i doubt i have bought 200.00 worth of parts from them total.
Really nice to see a company care enough about such little amount and issue a refund with no questions asked, nor having to send the fans back.
While i typed this, i was wondering id i should say the fan brand or not, maybe all their stuff isnt this bad, i dunno... But when i have almost 20 year old PSu fans that still work, no reason for 2 new ones to crap out like this, they were RoseWill RFA120L-B 120mm 4 blue LED's

I'm very happy for you. Don't mean to spoil your thread with a rant, but unfortunately, I have sworn off Newegg and will not be doing business with them any time in the near future. I was a happy customer for over 5 years and then one very ugly incident occurred in which I got zero support from CSR and I literally had to file a fraud claim against them with PayPal before they would even look at the issue on their end.

Mind you, I'd expect IT issues to occur periodically. No billing system is perfect. It's just that I was really PO'd with the dismissive attitude I got when I presented CSR with a problem that wasn't (conveniently) covered by a pre-canned customer service script and their unwillingness to investigate further (even when I provided all the facts).

Hopefully, they've learned from this incident on their side and have adjusted their internal training accordingly.

That stinks. I have been buying from them since 2001 and have yet to have a problem. I hope they don't goof up with me because I am like you in that if you screw me, I won't come back.

I'm the cheapest man alive, but I will ALWAYS buy from Newegg, even if something's more expensive from them (Not often, but the Artic Freezer 7 fan I got from them was 60 when you can definitely still get it from other places for 25) Usually you either get great customer service or prices, not both. It's nice Newegg's around to buck the trend

Also, the original post was hardly screaming or angry. It sounds like he wouldn't even have posted it except Newegg made an exceptional effort to keep him happy. Congrats on filling the "pointless but inevitable post that takes a high and mighty tone" quota for this thread though.

Only dealt with them one time so far. Service was good, even though I needed
to return the items due to my ordering the wrong ones. Quick to give an RMA
and a Credit ... only thing I do not like, is since I live in NJ and they have a
shipping location here, NJ residents get charged Sales Tax .. otherwise a great company

The ironic part is that Rosewill is the brand that Newegg sells all of their own products under.

Newegg has been great to me, too. I bought a stick of RAM that dropped $20 in price over the next two days. I asked if I could be refunded the difference, just because it feels crappy to lose $20 like that. They gave me the $20 and sent me some freebies, too (a branded watch, 5 DVD-R's, and a few other small things).

I'm not surprised that you're having problems with Rosewill. Last year, I bought 2 Rosewill power supplies (one for my computer, one for my dad's). Anyway, mine was horribly loud but it lasted until I upgraded to a 7900GT, and then I started having random shutdown problems. I replaced it with a Seasonic. A few months later, I built a cheap Linux box and it couldn't even power that. You could hear the fans slow down and see the LED's dim when it accessed the hard drive. Strangely, that same machine works perfectly with a several year old Fortron 300 watt. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, the one in Dad's machine died. Bad capacitors. I can't say I'm too surprised since the system's in a computer cabinet under his desk and it gets HOT in there, but still, I don't think a 2/2 failure rate is any good at all.

Weird. I have a Rosewill 550W PSU (with the LEDs inside) and it's been fantastic. It does get loud when turned on to "max", but it exhausts a LOT of air when it's set like that.

I guess we'll see if it lasts, it's only about 3 weeks old.

SM8000, did you even read what i said?????Hmmmm, screaming and angry eh? why dont you go back and read my post, as other's have showed, i didn't want my money back, i didn't want a RMA, i wasn't blaming Newegg what so ever.
Post was to praise them for sending me back 8.00 and i was not asking for it. I also wrote that i debated stating what brand they were because of people like you, but figured it may lead to others not buying those fans, "and you get what you pay for???" well, if thats the case, why are 10-20 year old psu fans i have still running? most out of crap psu's, most are from AT's?? and these crapped out within a month? no excuse for that at all.
Fan blade falls out of the fan? i mean come on now!
I use my computer about 2 hours a day. It is powered off all the rest of the time.
And yes ill leave feedback at resellerratings, i didnt know about that site till now. And yes i will also thank the Egg for what they did without asking them for compensation.
And to those who saw what i was trying to say, thanks for the support.

I live in NJ too, and I don't like the tax... but on the other hand I ordered a keyboard the other night around 6 PM eastern, opted for UPS standard ground, and it arrived the next afternoon .

Mark, I now what you mean. Their service is excellent and on moderate cost items
the 7% tax is bearable ... but not on a Large Order, such as a whole system. In a
case like that I would ship to a friend in NY which is about 15 miles from me and go
pick it up there

NewEgg owns chief value and I just bought the arctic freezer 7 pro from chief value yesterday for 24.00 while newegg sells freezer 7 pro for 60+.

The customer service seems to be identical.

NewEgg customer service is better than the other online vendors, IMO. They are especially good to Anandtech members - probably because they get so much business due to referrals from this forum and from the partnership they have with the main site. Anyway, I purchased $1100 worth of parts for my core2duo rig I put together in October. Well, they shipped the stuff all in the same box (including a heavy Corsair power supply) with very little packaging material. The 7900GTO I ordered was damaged in transit - probably from the power supply banging into it. I was disappointed because the card sold out two days later. Anyway, I opened a claim with customer service as well as posted a claim to the Newegg Support rep here on Anandtech forums. The result is that they sent me a 7950GT (free NEXT day delivery via FedEx) to replace the damaged card and refunded the purchase price of the 7900GTO after I sent it back (they paid shipping). The 7950GT was free after all was said and done.

I challenge you - no - I DEFY you to find another online vendor who would go to such extremes to keep the customer happy.

Edit: I don't usually make this type of referral post on the Internet since I receive no compensation for what amounts to free advertising but, I'll make an exception for NewEgg this time since my story is an extraordinary situation.

Holy crap! A FREE 7950GT?

I don't have the $$ to order much electronic or computer upgrades, but it is usually from Newegg. Though I must admit my current system, I got the mobo and 7800GT from ZZF, and the Opteron from Tankguys. But IIRC, during the Opty craze, Tankguys was one of the few with them in (another great place to buy from), the 7800GT had a rebate only valid with ZZF, and the mobo was either much cheaper from ZZF or Newegg didn't have the Epox I wanted (they had only the cheap one or the all-out one).

Still though, almost all of my friends into computers order from there or I've told them about it. Like I told my roommate a couple years back about them, he tells his dad, and his dad orders from them sometimes I believe.

So, in conclusion, hell yeah Newegg rocks. There was a good article 6-9 months back (??) on Anandtech where someone from AT visited the Newegg warehouse.

Yes, Rosewill is ONE of Newegg's packaging divisions. ABS computers is another - funny as in the beginning, Newegg was spun off from ABS to bring their parts cost down and now the Egg is the 800 pound gorilla in the stable. New ones keep popping up all the time.

Most of Rosewill's optical drives are from AOpen, PSUs are from ATNG/Coolmax, LCDs are also AOpen, etc. IDK why anyone would buy Rosewill fans though when CoolerMaster LCD fans have an excellent rep and don't cost much more. Likewise for normal black fans when Yate Loons, etc. are so cheap. Moral: Do your homework.

The video card, and memory came as scheduled yesterday, and I must say that the packaging was superb. A larger box then needed with plenty of peanuts for packaging and even the memory package was inside it's own box with bubble wrap there also. The box in a box was suprising. I work for the worlds largest office supply chain and I'm impressed with Newegg's ability to process pick, pack, and ship orders so very well. I'd love to see the facility. Oh yea, NJ here too.

About 6 months ago I purchased my current system from NewEgg. I thought my RAM had a $40 rebate for it but I read the date wrong and it wasn't valid for another week or so. Anyways, I called NewEgg, spoke to a very friendly customer service agent, and was immediately credited $25 to my credit card. NewEgg has a great return policy.

Shipping is kind of expensive relative to their cheaper items so I think it's most effective to place multiple items on one order. Also, the customer reviews for most products made by Rosewill are downright scary.

Here is the link to the AT article I mentioned if anyone is curious. It mostly details their shipping process, which seems quite good and why their orders ship so quickly.

And wow, look at that, it's been just over a year since it was published. I guessed 6-9 months, but given how time flies I guess a year seems right now.
