* = Confirmed/Official Statement

I wanted to compile a list of all the information on all the next gen video cards. Hope this helps:

THANKS TO ALL WHO ARE CONTRIBUTING RUMORS

ATI
R520 X800: Although it seems to good to be true it might not be. Inquirer article

Rumor... if you can read German *Note some of these rumors are already confirmed completely false. Nvidia has already confirmed that they will be releasing NV50 and it will be a completely new architecture and not just a refresh.

ATI R520 "Fudo" has 24 plus pipelines

R520, "Fudo" is Longhorn WGF 1.0 compliant (Inq Article)

ATI has two more R5XX cards (Inq Article)

ATI R580 spotted on the back burner

ATI R520

RD400

RUMORED**
R520
24 piplines acting like 32
600-700mhz core
1.6ghz memory GDDR3 (GDDR4 later)
256mb and 512mb of memory
256 bit
WGF 1.0 support (directx next)
90nm process
300-350 million transistors
Shader Model 3.0
MVP/AMR Support

AT News Link A Big thanks to microAmp for finding this!

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to the complexity of this part, as well as TSMC?s relative newness to the 90 nm process, I do not expect to see large numbers of these products hit the shelves initially. The products that do will most likely be well over $600. Early summer is when most agree that we will see this part, and it will probably only come out in PCI-E form with 512 MB of GDDR-3
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nvidia

TSMC To bring 65nm tech

G70 to be Power Hunger

G70 to use 3dc

Nvidia working on 90 Series

Nforce 5 C19 To arrive in April

DirectX Update

G70 is the next generation Nvidia (Inq Article)

(This is also in the newslink)quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The official G70 launch appears to be sometime in late Spring (I would guess early May).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More to come as i find them. Hopefully will be updated daily. Feel free to post anything you find as well.

You'll have to use SLP then.

Not meaning to threadjack, just trying to add a little humour.

In the R520 article, they claim that it will be twice as fast as the current crop of ATI cards. How close do you think this will come to the truth?

it will probably be quite close id imagine.

but you wont see the 2x performance just any where, theyre probably claiming the 2x performance from stupidly high res with aa and af
i wouldnt be too suprised if R520 is 2x faster than R420 at 1600x1200 6xaa 16xaf or something

or maybes even higher resolutions for those of you with the Dell TFT's and 21inch + CRT's

its got more pipes, more speed, and faster memory so things like resolution, AA and AF will be faster

I agree with the sticky idea. It seems that at least once a day, we have a new "RUMOR" thread. I started one myself (on NVIDIA's G70), but that was a while back.

I have also heard rumors of a G80 on NVIDIA's side, does anyone have any info on that?

EDIT: I just PMed a mod with a request for a sticky .

If these specs are true, this card is a monster.

it is looking that way, though of course it is the INQ but its getting close to the supposed lauch (paper launch anyway) of this card and the specs floating around will probably be not too far from whats actually going to be the R520

I'm not excited about ATI anymore...why? their cards are never available, they are overpriced from start ($700 for r520???), and they are only using pci-e now...plus, they haven't used the latest DX stuff for their cards (x800 only on SM2.0) BUT, it seems that they are changing that!

yay for ATI! Whoever can afford one of the R520 cards (when they are released...if ever), congrats if you can find one lol

I heard somewhere that the next Nvidia cards would pretty much make the R520 look bad....thats what i heard...and they have the money to do it too...

Their cards are available.
What about nVidias overpriced cards?
True on the part they are only using PCI-E tho, but theres only one way to move forward, and thats not to keep the old stuff, its sad but true. Even if at the mo AGP and PCI-E have no differences...

nVidia are bringing their new gen, which is to say a boosted 6800 (pretty much like the R520 ) quite a few months later, and the specs show pretty much what the 6800 has and that it matches ATi's pipelines too.

But hey this is all rumour, and theres not much on nVidias future plans. Well not as much as there is on ATis r520.

not yet

Unreal III engine will make full use of them as will the Doom III engine (when it is fully utilized) . . . . lots of game engines at High Resolution and with AA/AF (plus SM 3.0 and HDR) will choke the fastest current cards.

Yeah, these next gen cards are probably going to be THE cards to get for HDR gameplay.

....dunno about games, but my 21" Lacie monitor would need 'em! I'd like the 2048x1536@75Hz to be more than just a spec.....
