it's gonna be "awhile"

and unless ATI has their "sli" ready, nVidia will keep the performance crown.

Personally I'm glad that the launch has been delayed to something like fall - just ordered an evga 6800GT PCIe from the egg.

I do hope that when the new cards launch they will have good availability and no price gouging.

Yeah he is a pro Nvidia person yet he has the best benchmarks and reviewing on the web. Additionally in all his testing he uses a 9800Pro.

Get out of my thread.

Well who pushed there card back, was it ATI or Nvidia. If ATI pushed it back it doesn't necessarily mean that Nvidia will match suit. I think we can expect these things in late spring still... more like a hope i guess though.

what do you mean "pushed back"?

The r520 is still slated for a (paper)launch in late-May early-June . . . it should be "available" in the Fall when the g70 IS (paper)launched.

Download this EQ2: Trial of the isle, crank up all the detail settings to the max and send us a fraps recording of the game when you are in a "action situation". I'm betting even an 2 x 6800 Ultra computer can't hold 30+FPS all the time.

My point:
Games like this need hardware that dosen't even exist yet to run in "full quality" mode.

Lets just hope the new stuff has a better price / performance ratio then 2 x 6800 GT.

EQ2's highest settings use over 512MB of texture memory. Last I knew no card has that yet. I know Nvidia has plans for an ultra with 512MB but... I'm guessing haveing 1/2 of what is required will not fly so well. Even with SLI you still only have 2 seprate memory pools of 256MB.

This thread should be stickied, otherwise a new next-gen thread will pop up every time there's a slightest bit of news.
OP please update the first post as news gets in.

Sorry i haven't been able to update. Im having really bad network problems. I dont lose connection physically yet i cant access anything on the web. The only thing that fixes it is a reboot. Then it works for a while, and stop. Im not sure what is going on.

Sorry for not keeping this as up to date as the driver thread guys... i really do want to.

Inq has some rumors on G70: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=22917

Going by the max requirement of 225W, I think its safe to say the nvidia is going for the big one and the high-end card will be at least twice as powerful as a 6800 Ultra. Such a high power consumption implies that nvidia will not go for a new 90nm process tech, and their clock speeds must be pretty high.

Makes you wonder what sort of cooling they will have. A full blow water cooler?

Makes me glad I ordered the OCZ Powerstream 520!

Still just rumors though.

FInally got around to updating everything. That should be better.

As for 65nm for the G70. I will garauntee you it will not happen. Why? Intel (who possesses the largest/most production plants in the world) is still having problems getting 65nm tech. AMD is a far cry from Intels manf capabilities. ATI and Nvidia have no where near the capacity of either of those. I would say that whatever is after the G70 and R520 (excluding refreshes) will have it.

Well from what i read the R520 will be 90nm and the G70 will probably be 110nm or something like that.

And remember Gamingphreek AMD has IBM to help them with their manufacturing capabilities. Thats why theyve done so well with 90nm.

alot of you guys keep bringing up these inquirer articles, so I'm curious how accurate these articles have been in the past?

Like what is the historical accuracy percentage? 50%? 25% 0?

I can't give you an exact % of how accurate they are, but the Inq is probably more accurate than most companies want them to be (or just as accurate as companies want them to be. depending on which theories you subscribe to). That being said, The Inq usually presents a couple possibilities and usually one of them is accurate.

Another way to look at it is that lots of respected hardware review sites link to the Inq for news.
