Sources: Niners, Purdy finalizing $265M contract

The San Francisco 49ers and quarterback Brock Purdy are finalizing a five-year, $265 million contract, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Friday.

As expected, and seems "reasonable." Every QB contract is different, but this is comparable to the Trevor Lawrence and Jordan Love deals, and those two dudes are less accomplished.

The trick will be to eventually reopen the chip window after Purdy's cap hit skyrockets and the rest of the roster has to be rebuilt from cheaper, younger parts.

A worst-case scenario would have been Purdy getting a record-setting contract (i.e. $60M AAV).
