I could swear I've seen somewhere that nForce 2 mobo came with an integrated GeForce MX 420.
But everywhere I look it's in no spec.
Is this true on all board, some or not at all ? Was it only a nice dream ?

Thanks

Hasn't arrived to market yet. The ones that have the "SPP" (System Platform Processor) northbridge don't have video. The ones that have the "IGP" (Instant Gratification Processor) will have onboard video, like the EPoX 8RGA+

The video is comparable to Radeon 9000 right? How about the Radeon 8500le?

I think I read somewhere that the video is rated at "GF4 MX440" or something like that.

Check it out - just arrived on PriceWatch

MSI nForce2 IGP

Could be the start of something great...the pent-up desire for the graphic version(s) of the nForce2 powered motherboards may assuaged ? starting now.

This is the first ?real? sighting of these boards that I've seen. Anyone else?
Yippi! Skippi! Just in time for my 62nd.

www.komplett.de lists the MSI K7N2G-ILSR board, with a unconfirmed date of 31-Jan-02.
Anyone seen any info on the Asus A7N8X Deluxe version with IGP?
The Leadtek board is listed on Pricewatch.com for $134 with IGP, even has a second VGA on the TV add on board.

The onboard vid works, but it has a memory bottleneck that the same video card would not have.
It does not compare straight across to an equivalent AGP card.

Funny thing...
the ECS K7S7AG based on the Xabre200 & SIS746 with 64M DDR onboard for the video looks pretty hot.
The reviews on the MSI and Leadtech nForce2 IGPs show them taking quite a performance hit when sharing the PC2700 on the M/B in certain game-intensive graphic scores.

This has taken some of the steam out of my desire for any of the newest IGP enabled nForce2 M/Bs.

Look for the review ECS K7S7AG
(that's ocworkbench.com in case you must know).
This new ECS ? SIS combo looks to be better than the IGP nForce2s coming down the pike.

So, what do you think?

That board would be perfect for this computer that I am building my parents, except no AGP! Yeah, I know that can beat the MX440, but I need to be able to keep that computer game-complient over the long haul. Some day my parents will get the hand-me-down GF3. The Xaber is going to be *useless* in a year - year and a half. ECS makes a KT400 based microATX with AGP, the L7VTM, but they won't sell it to us!!! (well... those of us who are in the US) ...bummer... so close, yet so far away..........

I think too much emphasis is placed on gaming benchmarks when deciding if a board is good or not.

Absolutely correct unless all you do is play games...

Sounds like you and I probably don't hardly even play SOL...I know I don't, nor any other games.
Business apps are way too fun to be bothered with games. If you are going to do tech work, though, you'll need to know everything there is to know about the hardware required to play games.

I don't personally do ATI (and haven't for years because of the buggy ATI drivers) but I have some people that demand them simply because thay can do a few extra frames or manage a few more pixels...same applies to nVidia (although their drivers are first-rate for the most-part).
The gForce4 MX is plenty good enough for me as it is up with the best of them when it comes to the business apps. Same way with the Xabre200 ? although for me, both are way-overkill!

OK, so I like to see Word or Excel come up before my eye twinkles.:Q

Ride,

I ment that the L7VTM is not coming to these shores. As far as I know the K7S7AG is coming here. Its probably worth and email if the board is not listed on the front page of ECS's website. I wrote ECS about the L7VTM, so that's how I heard about its anti-us distribution. =-)

The Nforce2 IGP is the intergrated graphics version. The Nforce 1 was originally targetted at integrated market but then Nvidia decided after the success of the 415 that they would go straight for VIA's throat and release a non integrated chipset first for the Nforce2.
