okkay I cant get my sound to work, can someone help me out......it seems to be working but no sound is comming uot of my speakers, does that makes since?? Well I just installed the 6.66 drivers. I have a Gigabyte nForce 4-4x board with the integrated sound

The Cobbler gave a pretty good cue about removing the audio drivers and reinstall them. You can try to see if they work.

I have completely removed NAM from my system from the registry and from the Nvidia uninstall program.

I have Sygate, ZoneAlarm and Norton Security running on other systems (Intel) and I am behind a hardware firewall so I am not even sure that I would even want NAM.

When I installed just 6.66 Ethernet and NAM I got BSODs. I installed 6.53 Ethernet and NAM, then I cannot access the setup page, port 3470 something nor sure now)

I should have stopped when I saw your first post.

Same thing with me...i installed the 6.66 drivers with NAM and BSOD over and over and over and....

I even uninstalled the old drivers including my nvidia display drivers before i installed these new ones.


I really wish nvidia would fix this problem!

I'm using the NAM 6.53 version. I went into the install folder C:\NVIDIA\nForceWin2KXP\6.53\Ethernet\NAM and ran the NetworkAccessManagerSetup program to install NAM.

Only in western cultures is 666 considered a bad number. In many Asian cultures the number 6 is considered the luckiest of numbers.

Looks like the installer and the IDE driver are absorbing most of the effort. Based on user complaints, NAM is the most common component blamed for problems (at least, its removal more often resolves problems).

Per the number of revision numbers used on individual drivers, it doesn't look like an army of programmers are working to resolve user complaints.

Okkay I just got finish doing that, everything seems the same as before no sounds coming out :-( When I go to the realtek thing and go to jack sensing it says stero line in......Before I installed the new drivers it would be power speakers or something like that

Which drivers from the 6.66 set did you load? In particular, did you load the audio driver and/or audio utilities?
If not, did you load the Realtek driver?
In Device Manager/Sound, etc/Realtek AC'97 Audio/Properties/Driver, what driver is listed?

Have you tried connecting a headset to the line-out?

Okkay I dont know what was wrong but I PLuged my speakers to the pink one and it works now.....but isnt the light green one for the speakers?? ohwell Ill just leave them in the pink one

Okay, I'm back. What a pain in the arse!

Looks like somewhere along the line, the pci.sys file was deleted from the windows\system32\drivers folder. To make a long story short, luckily I also have a laptop.

My sata raid drivers were also hosed, so I had to download them from Nvidia and copy those files and the pci.sys file from the laptop onto a flop. After doing all of that and then reinstaling the 6.53 drivers, I'm back to square one which I am very happy to stay at.

I encountered the same problem as you, missing/corrupted pci.sys. I tried to copy a pci.sys from another comp over using the Reconvery Console, but it didnt fix the error. I'm wondering if you can give me suggestions on this. Thanks!

There are a couple jumpers in the MB which enable the FRONT audio of your case to work.
If you have the headphone on at the front then the GREEN front speakers output in the back would not work. It should be in your manual.

The PINK output is usually MIC in.

I would gather somehow your audio cable and jumpers need to be checked.

I did the exact same thing, got the OK box, and the 1155 code and the BSODs. Go figure. It went downhill ever since.

I even use Drivercleaner Pro2 and boot up in safe mode so no antivirus or other apps or driver can interfere and, again CRASH!!! WTF!!!

Best way to install new nvidia chipset drivers:

download DriverCleanerPro
turn off modem or disconnect

3. run DriverCleaner Pro's CAB cleaner on driver.cab but NOT SP2.cab
4. run DriverCleaner Pro's Nvidia Driver Cleaner. Use multiple filters for nVidia Chipset, nVidia(display), nVidia audio, Realtek audio. DO NOT clean IDE or RAID drivers or you will hose your installation and have to reinstall Windows.
5. empty recycle bin and reboot normally
6. when Windows prompts you to install new hardware it found, hit cancel in each popup
7. run the nVidia 6.66 installer. you may choose not to install both nVidia audio drivers and nVidia IDE SW drivers. reboot when prompted
8. if you didn't install nVidia audio in (7), install Realtek drivers instead. reboot.
9. run the nVidia installer for the ForceWare drivers of your choice. reboot.
10. set up your display options again, bring your overclock gradually back up and you're done.

use DC Pro according to its instruction and you will never have headaches from nVidia drivers gooping up the place.

I just want to try these out to see if the NAM has been fixed. I loved it, especially the Active Armor TCP/IP accelerator function, until it started randomly producing BSOD's yesterday after two weeks of use. bleh.

You cant be serious. You really think nVidia would release drivers that require this kind of effort?

It doesn't have anything to do with nVidia. Uninstallers don't do clean uninstalls by default, so there is going to be stuff left over whether it's ATI, nVidia, Realtek, Creative, etc.

Bad drivers and extra crap lying around will bring Windows to its knees and I would wager these are the cause of more OS corruption than anything.

If you use Driver Cleaner, you will have no problems caused by drivers, aside from issues inherent in the drivers themselves. I use it every single time I uninstall/install drivers, without exeption, and have not had a single issue on my NF4 Ultra system. Which makes it frustrating to read all the problems people have with NF4 systems because they are too stubborn or impatient or lazy or whatever to just run DC Pro.

takes 5 minutes. will save you hours upon hours of headaches.

Nope.

The POS official installer points to the Apache path at the WRONG LOCATION and I have no idea how to point it in the right direction. Should be under C:\Nvidia... but instead points to C:\program files\nvidia... which does not exist.

So everything installs EXCEPT Apache, which is unfortunate given that it's pretty necessary for the NAM to function and all.

Once the path is straightened out, I will hopefully have an answer for you.

BTW, I only got BSODs from the NAM when it was turned to OFF and Active Armor was set to offload particular programs (Battlefield 2), i.e. only while using Active Armor's TCP/IP accelerator function. Seemed to occur completely at random, sometimes and sometimes not at all. I uninstalled after testing the Nvidia ethernet controller w/NAM vs. the Marvel controller without the NAM installed and found that I don't get the occasional high pings I was getting with the NAM.

also the web interface isn't working, which seems to be related to the same issue, not running from the bin

the cobbler, I knew something was not right with the installer, but how do you explain that other reported no problem, even installing on top of the old drivers without removing them?
