NHL Free Agency Thread

God dammit Aquaman! Stop arguing with me. He will not sign with the Wild. They may go into the market and pick up a couple guys, but i can promise you, it will not be him.

To answer your question, so you'll leave me alone, if he DID sign with the Wild, I would hope they trade him.

Sharks aren't a fun team to watch in the offseason. All of our marquee players are internally developed. The one exception to that was Teemu.

Other than that, Sharks like draft picks rather than established vets.

Domi might not be a leaf. Apprently his feelings are hurt that we didn't sign him on Aug. 1st at 12:01 for more then a mill. pff

What an exciting time to be getting back into the mix. I love this thread. I can't even imagine how amazing the hockey pools are going to be... WOW. Playing in a 20-person $100 draft pool this year, it's going to KICK ASS.

Pronger to the Oil. Wow. I would love to see them pick up one more scorer, and a big-name tender. Conklin could be an amazing backup although I think he has the potential to start. If Hemsky can show more of what appears to be godlike hands, this team could take off.

Oilers forever!!

I would love to play in a serious pool like that but $100 is way over my head.

It's a lot of money to me too. Last time we did $80 with 10 guys and did winner-take-all. I didn't agree with that format too much. It's nice to give second place their money back, at the very least. I got screwed at the end of the season, having both Savard and Bertuzzi on my squad.

Leafs to lose Antropov

Not only are the Leafs losing out on the free agent market, they may be losing out to Russia as well.
According to the Toronto Star, forward Nik Antropov has received offers from Russian club teams doubling and even tripling the qualifying offer of $1 million the Leafs have offered the winger.
"I have to think about it with my agent (Don Meehan) very hard. I've been thinking about it for the last month and a half. We haven't make a decision yet," Antropov told the Star. "I hope to stay here in Toronto and play for the Maple Leafs."
"I've got a couple of offers in Russia for two to three times as much money. It's easier for me to go back there than to stick around the NHL. Same as for the Canadians who played in Russia. It's easier for them to come back here. We'll see what's going to happen but my mind is to stay here and play for the Leafs. Toronto is a great city. I like it a lot actually."

Now, he's not that amazing of a player, but if he can get that kind of money in Russia, what's stopping the Russians from buying up the NHL's elite? The CBA might end up killing the NHL if someone else is willing to pay more for the talent. Short run players will stay in the NHL b/c they feel at home, owe it to the game, etc but what if NHL was second rung to the Russian Elite or some other league? The best players would want to go where the best hockey and the best money is and the teams here can't do anything about it.

He's coming back. He said he would like to play another 2 or 3 years.
