if he plays like last year (14 goals, 30 assists in 76 games), I hope the bruins give him a pass

actually, he'll prob bounce back and have a strong season and might do well on the B's.

Modano trivia: has anyone else heard that he likes his blades dull because he contends he can turn quicker on dull blades? something weird about his skating - he seems to glide across the ice without much effort and he's one of the fastest & best skaters in the league.

I never heard that............. I prefer a sharp blade............ less falling down for me

Maybe because if they are too sharp they can cut too hard on a sharp turn and dull ones won't and will allow a sharper turn?

Dunno...been so long since I skated.

holy sh1t, that seems like too much to me. well, he could make room for someone like Savard if they were to pair them up...

Agreed. Holik has showed almost nothing since leaving the Devils...4mill+ is too much for him IMO.

Especially with the cap and three very young players thaat they will have to try to keep.

Great on the Stevie Y news... I sure as hell hope they can land Thornton for Datsyuk. I can imagine a Lang/Thornton/Zetterburg line or something of the like... That would completely rock. Datsyuk would be very good for the upcoming shootouts, but the wings need a "power forward" like Thornton to step it up where Shanahan slacks off.

That's an awful trade and won't happen. Good for the Wings maybe, but that's about it.

Besides, supposedly they aren't trying to trade Thornton...

Ohhhh..if they get Modano too, I bet Thornton wants to stay. I was thinking a big reason he might want to leave next year is the loss of his linemates...especially Murray. Are we going to see the return of the Murray-Thornton-Sammy line?

Good move on Murray, but McEachern is pretty lazy. An awful backchecker, though maybe with more open ice he'll be worth it.

"Modano is down to 2 teams Boston being the front runner, and he will make a decision by 5pm today. The deal is in the 4M-4.5M range. Glenn Murray and Shawn McEachern have signed deals with the Bruins already. Holik is a Thrasher. Boucher is close a deal with LA. Berard close to Columbus with a possibility of LA."
