Sadly my Penguins will be playing the lottery for the #1 pick rather than playing for the Cup, but at least I can die in peace having seen my team win 2 of them. As for the rest:

Ottawa over NYI in 4. Sens don't choke until round 2 or 3. Yashin is playoff cancer.

New Jersey over Boston in 5. Boston still has a few years of bad karma from last year to work out.

Tampa over Washington in 6. I won't pick the Caps to win a round until they actually do.

Toronto over Philly in 6. Ugh, the 2 teams I hate the most. Cechmanek is a playoff choker along with the rest of the Flyer stiffs.

Dallas over Edmonton in 7. Just a hunch.

Detroit over Anaheim in 6. No Hasek no Cup, but Anaheim is weak.

Colorado over Minnesota in 7. Avs will look past this series.

Vancouver over St. Louis in 5. Osgood won't finish the series.

Ottawa over NYI in 5. Yashin may fade but I think they can win 1 game but the Sens will pumble them

New Jersey over Boston in 6. Even though NJ has allowed the least goals against I think that Boston has some fire power thier problem is goaltending.

Washington over Tampa in 6. Washington won the season series and if they can get there scoring going then they have a good chance. Tampa will need mor then Vinne Lecav. & Martain St. Louis.

Philly over Toronto in 6. No reason just a hunch.

Dallas over Edmonton in 5. Edmonton has had Dallases number in past years but I think with Turco's stellar play they will beat thier nemesis. I hope Edmonton wins though.

Detroit over Anaheim in 6. Anaheim is a much improved team with the acquistions of Steve Thomas and they can put up 2 pretty good lines. Throw in the outstanding play of Gigere & Gerber and they have a chance but the Red Wings are hot & they have so much fire power.

Colorado over Minnesota in 5. If Minnie wants to win they have to get Gaborik going, he's been pretty flat and there are rumours that Lemaire will go with one goalie instead of using the tandum. Colorado has been the hottest team since the all star break so I think they will win for sure.

Vancouver over St. Louis in 6. I'm a homer so I think the Canucks will win but St Louis has a great chance with Pronger & Tkchuck coming back off of injuries. The only problem with the Blues is will Osgood & Johnson prove up for the challenge.

Go Canucks GO !!!

Cheers,
Aquaman

i'm not a hockey fan AT ALL. BUT i do listen to The Fan out of NY and everyone there seems to think that the NJ Devils have an exceptionally good franchise. most of them criticized the Devils for letting one of their players get away last season, the rangers got him. obviously he didn't do for the rangers what everyone thought he'd do.

ANYWAY

I pick the Devils to win it all.

hey, i live in NJ. gotta root for the home team.

Bobby Holik, the Rag$ paid 45 mil over 5 years for a checking forward. Their payroll is 3 times what Ottawa's is but the Sens finished 1st overall and the Rangers will be watching the playoffs on TV for the 6th year in a row. I love it.

Ottowa over New York Islanders in 4 (would have loved to see the Rangers be the #8 team - potential to upset)

New Jersey over Boston in 6

Tampa Bay over Washington in 6

Philadelphia over Toronto in 7

Dallas over Edmonton in 5 (Edmonton loses Anson Carter to NYR - that was a decent hit to the scoring)

Detroit over Anaheim in 6

Minnesota over Colorado in 7 (Hey I'm from MN, gotta hope!)

Vancouver over St. Louis in 7 (This will be a great series - Tkchuk and Pronger are back and they just signed Peter Sejna who led all college players in scoring this year)

Well, while I am not jaded into thinking my Bruins will go very far at all, I think they will take the Devils to a game 7. Every single game the B's and Devils have played this season have been 1 goal games...except for one. The Devils have an excellent defense, and of course, Brodeur, but the B's do have some dangerous firepower, and we just got Samsonov back which should take some of the attention off the Thornton line.

I am going to be watching so much hockey in the coming weeks. Not only am I going to watch my B's, but I also have season tickets to the 4th place Manchester Monarchs (LA Kings) AHL team, and we are getting 7 of our best players back from LA now that they are done for the year. I love this time of year!

Me too, but not as much as I used to. I miss the days when hockey was only on cable, games ran long into the night from far-flung places like Winnipeg, and a 4-3 game was considered a defensive battle. Something got lost when Gary Bettman decided to stuff hockey into every orifice in the country.

My picks, with a dash of inane reasoning:

Ottawa over the Isles in 6. Peca will push his team hard for a few games but it won't be enough.

Boston over NJ in 7 <-- my attempt at looking like a genius, which will probably fail. Undefeated in 11? Ha! Look for Boston to return to their early season form when they were #1 in the league. Thornton is a beast. But, I could be completely wrong, and NJ will win in 4. Who knows.

Tampa over Washington in 7. Who's hotter, Khabibulin or Kolzing? Against each other, they could make for a long series... neither of these teams strike me as overpowering.

Toronto over Philly in 5. Toronto's chock full of playoff goodness, Flyers look like the same team that has choked many years running.

Dallas over Edmonton in 6. Edmonton's roster changes don't help them here. Dallas just looks much stronger.

Detroit over Anaheim in 5. This looks like a complete mismatch. Ducks can pull off one game at home but nothing more.

Colorado over Minnesota in 6. Minnie's inexperience in the playoffs will show, but their coaching should win them a few games. Forsberg + Hejduk are on fire.

Vancouver over St. Louis in 7. This is a very intriguing series, with Pronger returning to action. Tough to call really. But Vancouver's had a great year and they're not gonna let it slip away.

When the Islanders and Rangers are the 2 closest teams to compare against, I'm sure the Devils would look pretty good to me too!

My poor Capitals... not many people giving them the nod...

Season series between Tampa and Washington... advantage WSH 3 games to 2. I have NHL Center Ice and watch every Caps game. 2 of the 3 wins for Washington were very decisive. In the 2 losses to Tampa, one of them was an OT loss and was a great game throughout. The other loss was one in which the officials blew 2 calls; the NHL office sending an official letter of apology to the WSH head office for making incorrect calls on the ice the following day.

So what do I say? Seeing that Bondra is the most prominent goal scorer vs. Tampa in their ~10 year history, and Jagr is #2 on that list, I don't see any reason Tampa will take out Washington at all, and I'm being extremely objective. Unless the 'Bulin wall is far superior to Kolzig, Tampa AIN'T going anywhere. Sincerely, I hope they do show you, Jaeger... cause I haven't seen them win a round in a long time either. This one should be easy given all the facts on paper... but who really knows what'll happen out there...

Nobody likes the Oilers? I think they have the best shot at an upset, since Turco will be making his first playoff run. And goalies in that position usually have a hard time no matter how good they were in the first 82 games.

My only regret this year is that the Pens won't have the Caps to slap around in the playoffs...again.

LOL... did you see that game 2 nights ago when they played the Pens? They were losing to the Pens 3-1 in the third period and the announcers on the PIT broadcast were saying too bad the Pens aren't in the playoffs to give the Caps another headache... but IF they win this last game of the year, what a way to still get into the heads of the Caps' players. Well the Caps came back and won 5-3. Muhahahahaha. All the while, Bondra becomes the #1 point-getter in Capitals history... and vs. the Pens no less...

I think that's a nice pick-me-up for the team heading into the playoff run... Thanks Pittsburgh.

My poor Pens..less than 2 years ago they were 3 wins from the finals and now this. I know they suck, and will suck next year too but they've given their fans more quality hockey in the last decade or so than most teams have. As for the Caps, I really like Kolzig and hope he gets a Cup one day...preferably with some other team though. Anyway, I just don't think the Caps can score enough. They have Jagr and Lang, but Lang usually takes the his vacation during the playoffs and Jagr will injure his groin in warmups before game 1.
