I dont think I'll be able to watch game 7. The stress of these play-offs has taken years off my life. D:

I just hope we get the first goal on Wednesday... Honestly Luongo and the team as a whole is like a house of cards right now.

You sound like a Sharks fan

Don't worry too much, the Canucks always seem to do well at home. I'll be cheering for them from San Jose

With Raymond out, the decision to dress Glass looks even more stupid. At least with Hodgson and Tambo you have the option of playing them with the second line.

Does Luongo start? That'll be the hyped question the next two days.

No question they start Luongo. He's played fine in Vancouver. For whatever reason he gets sand in his vagina when he plays in Boston. And it's game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals, you go with your starter. Schneider has been pretty damn awesome though.

Yep, Schneider will be a good starter for some team come 12-13 season.

Tim Thomas has been great, but Lu has been a lil better overall. This has been a goalie battle and LU has been the better of the two 3-2. He has shut them out twice and given up only 2 goals in the 3 wins. If they win the cup, it will be because of Luongo by far. When the great game in net was needed he has gotten it done. No disrespect at all to Tim Thomas, but he flatout lost game 2 with that stroll in the park routine.

You posted that before last night's game. Would you like to retract your statement?

Yeah I'm assuming that someone on Vancouver will win it just because statistically it's very rare for a losing player to win it. However, TT does have a chance to set the Cup Final save % record and if he does then he will definitely win it. Most already think he has the Vezina sown up due to already shattering the single season save % record, so it'd just follow that train of thought.

Looks like the only logical choice for MVP now is TT, regardless if Boston wins or not. Of course that is assuming he doesn't come out and pull a Luongo in game 7.

Luongo fans are hilarious. Luongo is an average goallie with a bettter than average team in front of him. All the Bruins need to do is fill in the slot when shots are taken and pounce on rebounds. That;'s good for 2-3 goals against him. Then just pick corners on him when he sits to deep in the crease.

Found a Luongo sucks thread. The best part is it a Canucks fan that said this:
"Luongo is the reason we have not already won the Stanley Cup....having him in goal is like playing short handed all game. I feel sorry for the team.....if we had goaltending like Tim Thomas is giving Boston ....the series would be over. He does not give the team a chance to win - Boston has figured him out he goes down early, shoot high glove side over a sprawling Lou or the infamous 5 hole. So many ways to beat him. AV says he is my man....well that may be but he could cost you and the team the Stanley Cup and his job. I have waited 40 years for THIS! I have a hard time wondering why the media luv affair with Lou, he seems to be a great guy but not goaltender!"

http://www.talk-sports.net/nhl/sucks.aspx/Roberto_Luongo

Never realized that he has a weak 5 hole. That was goal #2 last night, right? And he parks his a$$ in the net way to much. So shooting high works. That was goal #1 last night. And he gives out juicy rebounds.

Readign that thread is funny. Atelast over there, people are honest. Bruins fans make fun of Luongo and Canuck fans agree.

BRUINS KEYS TO VICTORY:
Hit hard. Finish checks. Flood the slot with bodies.

CANUCKS KEYS TO VICTORY:
Hope the Bruins don't do the above and win by 1 goal.

The Canuck guy is right. If they had a TT on the Canucks, this series would be done already.

That Lu Sucks forum... it's funny how the Luongo fans and the guys bitching about Boston playing "rough" are screaming in caps. The more caps, the crazier they are.

Lu is good if he's not scored on early, but Vancouver's defense was the best in the league during the regular season so some credit has to go to them as well. If they're turning the puck over, it doesn't do Lu any favors either. He let in some really soft goals last night which is alarming.

For Game 7: It's basically a coin flip at this point. I would give the edge to Vancouver but after losing Raymond (their fastest skater), Kesler still playing hurt, Lu melting down for a 3rd time, and the Sedins still slowed down from the physical game I wouldn't give Vancouver the edge. It's a coin flip, however, if Vancouver can get the first goal against TT I see them winning it. First blood on Luongo, the B's will win it because it will drain the energy out of Rogers.

Unless one of Vancouver's superstars hat trick in a win, I still think Thomas gets the Conn Smythe. His Finals save % is still 96.17% (201/209) which is a large enough sample size to say he's elevated his game even higher than his record setting regular season (93.81%) and the playoffs (93.70%). Just a superb effort regardless of what happens in Game 7.

And you can cherry pick all you want, TT is better in playoffs:

Shots Against
1. Tim Thomas-BOS 774
2. Roberto Luongo-VAN 683

Save Percentage
1. Tim Thomas-BOS .937
2. Carey Price-MTL .934
3. Corey Crawford-CHI .927
4. Dwayne Roloson-TBL .924
5. Jimmy Howard-DET .923
6. Roberto Luongo-VAN .919

Goals Against Average
1. Tim Thomas-BOS 2.07
2. Carey Price-MTL 2.11
3. Corey Crawford-CHI 2.21
4. Henrik Lundqvist-NYR 2.25
5. Michal Neuvirth-WSH 2.34
6. Roberto Luongo-VAN 2.43

http://www.hockey-reference.com/playoffs/NHL_2011_leaders.html

It's not even close, and if Boston wins he could possibly set the save% regular season record and Finals record in.the.same.year.

Certainly TT has been better overall, not that regular season matters to this anyways. But just to cherry-pick some more:

Luongo in wins: .953 sv% / 1.40 GAA / 43 goals for (38 before this round)
TT in wins: .953 sv% / 1.64 GAA / 64 goals for (47 before this round)

Luongo won with less goal support that TT. He was terrible in losses, but he was the reason his team was winning games when they did. Does that make him more valuable to Vancouver than TT is to Boston? I don't think it's straightforward. I was actually making the same "you really can't give Lunogo the Conn Smythe" argument yesterday but it's fun to play devil's advocate!

I guess it depends on if you'd rather have a guy have two shutouts and then give up 10 goals the next game, or have a guy who gives up three goals each of those games (obviously exaggerations)

Definitely some interesting stats there. All in all, I think overall save % for wins and losses is more telling because it's indicative of consistency and mental toughness. The fact that Lu is rock solid in wins pretty much punctuates that he will lose his confidence fast if he's not on his game. If he's on his game, no doubt he's one of the best. Yet I'm pretty sure most coaches would want the more consistent goalie.

If Lu lets in 2 unanswered in Game 7 I'd pull him immediately. If he wasn't so established/paid I think Schneider would get the call to start, he seems more consistent in the limited time I've seen him this year.

I'm not a big pro hockey fan (I like college hockey, hockey without all the pro wrestling thrown in) but this has been a very fun series to watch.

I'm so happy neither team is from the South in that bogus money grubbing strategy of the NHL (I'll never forgive them for hoovering the Whalers away).

BTW does anyone know what happened to the Vancouver player that was injured early on in the first period?

So now this is interesting. Raymond didn't touch the puck, neither did Boychuck, and Boychuck drove him into the boards in a vulnerable position over 1 second after the puck had left their area. Raymond now has fractured vertebrae and will be out 4-6 months.

Horton HAD the puck, Rome hit him with an otherwise clean hit (there was some head contact but that's allowed so long as it isn't targeted), in open ice, and Horton will miss several games with a concussion from when his head hit the ice.

Rome got a major, a game, and a 4 game suspension. Boychuck gets nothing.

Mike Murphy's two reasons for giving Rome the 4 games were the lateness of the hit and the extent of the injury. Boychuck's hit was later, and the extent of the injury was worse so... ?
