At the Best Buy in West Hartford, they had about 10 of these things on the shelf this morning at 11:30 AM. Made me feel silly rushing there. OTOH, there was no "special" tag, and they still marked at $99. And the deal was buried in the middle of a 20 page circular. They really don't want anyone to actually BUY these things, do they?

I love how compact and streamlined it is. Slides right into your pants pocket. And the remote is really cool, although I can see leaving it at home, since it doesn't really add that much. Little tiny buttons and a 6 character display. But cool nonetheless.

My one complaint so far is the moronic hold system. You put the slider halfway between on and off, which is not as easy as it sounds. And the problem is that if you accidentally push too hard and turn it off, it forgets where you were. Arrggh. Hold should be a little recessed slide switch. Period.

This is probably the most value I have gotten out of a $30 purchase in quite some time. This is a really hotdeal if you can get your hands on one tomorrow. The Nike software sucks, but it seems to work well with Windows Media Player in Windows XP.

It detects on PnP in XP, no driver download necessary. Gotta love that.

I am listening to it as of now, and I upgraded the firmware. It is just fine.
I went to BB 1hour after they opened and they still had it in stock. On black Friday CC had 3 in stock when they opened and many people were frustrated not to find it. I think BB is making fun of CC here.
CC had many advertised good deals, but you just couldn't find them in the store even if you went there early. They were actually sued somewhere for this, "advertising sth which is not in their stock".

I think i might have a USB power overload problem...

Just got the program to star transferring some songs, it gets to 90% of the first one and then freezes... Not only that, but my keyboard turns off (USB also)... Im so confused... I have to unplug my keyboard and then replug it back in to get it workin...

Maybe not, I've always found the player to be flaky. For instances, there some song which the player refuses to copy over to the player. What happens is it will freeze at the exact same spot in song everytime when copying over. I have to reboot my PC to get the Nike software to work correctly. Basically I had to get a different copy of that song for it to finally work. It's happened on a few different songs, never could isolate exactly why. Also, my unit seems to eat batteries even if the unit is off.

I got 2 NIke MP3 Players from CC by buying them earlier and re-purchase on black friday. Looks like they're throwing away this player, probably there will be a good deal from Frys later. What I believe is that people are always over-reacted to the black frinday sale. There are often some even better deals running. I got free after mir 40GB HD from Compusa 3 months ago, two 45GB HDs free after mir and pm from Staples 1 year ago. They're all definitely better than the Best Buy black friday deal.

I'm using one of MP3 players now, the other will be a gift. I have no problem with it even with a 200Mhz notebook. The problem of transferring MP3 files might be due to the MP3 files are corrupted. I found a few MP3 I d/l from the Internet had problems when I burnt them to CD. Though WinAmp can play them correctly, all CD burning programs (includes EasyCD, Nero and Sonic Foundry ) report a wrong length. I had to convert those files to WAV first, but not all of them could be converted.

Roughly 1Mb 1min, and you can use a 64MB MMC with this thing to make it 96MB.

I picked up one for myself and one for a Christmas present. This thing is pretty cool! It's small I thought it came with an armband, though.....ah well, no biggie. I wished it used a jog dial for volume, rather than the buttons, but again, no biggie.

BTW, I'm using Windows XP Pro, and the second I connected the PSA via USB, WinXP recognized it (it even said found new hardware: Nike PSA player ), and installed it. I used WMP 8.0 to convert my MP3's to 64K WMA's (can't tell the difference w/ unless I use my more expensive Sennheiser headphones, but I'm going to be using this for working out....cheapie headphones), and it transferred them pretty fast. I'm not sure whether I want to installl the Nike software. Each 64K WMA takes up less than 2MB, so I can fit quite a few songs on this bad boy. Hopefully the battery life is pretty good. I dislike how you have to leave the darn thing on, while you transfer songs....

Hmm....I don't think I'll try it until I hear more successes What else is gained by the firmware upgrade? Just a battery meter on the LCD?

Also, can anyone say what the battery life is with and without using the LCD?

I've confirmed that the headphones that come with the PSA60 really suck. I strongly suggest using ANY other heaphones to really hear better sound. I've got a pair of Sony earbud headphones that cost me $10 that sound a heck of a lot better.
