Why don't you ask him after you're old enough to get your driver license and can afford your own car and insurance.

I thought Aimster was 20-some years old?

I'm just a state away. Ill race either of them...Send them crying to their mom because their ricer got beat by a crappy Mustang

BTW a Supra is a dyno queen. Only car to make 1000+ hp and can't run any quicker than 11's.......

And as Naustica said, don't throw your friends into an E-race..... Don't be that friend that leans out the window taunting other drivers because you don't have a "race" car of your own......

The Supra is the only Japanese car I am scared of on the road. I can take a stock one easy but some of them floating around here can run in the 9's with some crazy set ups so I have to be on my game.

Oh, do you happen to run into lots of GT-R's on the road? I know they're so common because Nissan sold them here... oh wait, that's right, they didn't. Motorex also went out of business years ago for being deceiving with their safety reports (they only wrecked the R33 and claimed it sufficed in testing the R32 and the R34, which it did not).

That has more to do with the 280PS limit Japan has than their capabilities.

Almost all the high-end Japanese cars respond well to simply chip changes.

There is a few videos of GT-R's beating streetbikes and still looking and running like a stock version of themselves.

The Porsche guys have to do alot to beat the Z06.

You can read about it on Rennlist.org.

The Z06 is a monster on the track.

It's also known that some of the cars did not actually put out that much power as they actually put out over 280. Also, the 280 limit hasn't been in effect for awhile as it was only an agreement (by the auto manufacturers) to stifle insane "chip wars"-esque (i.e. the hertz war) situations.

EDIT: Err I meant over not about.

"OMG, it says "Nissan," must be ricer! I can't stand anything being a better car than my crappy Ford (Fix Or Repair Daily)!"

The GT-R is a great car, but you lose all credibility when you say it's a bigger icon than the Corvette or Mustang.

Seriously? LOL

he said respected, not an icon.

The stock RB26DETT has a fairly broad powerband, but it's not a rocket.

Most go to a single turbo as well.

Almost always when you are going for big power you give up a lot down low.

You can build a lot of torque from the RB25 or RB26.

This is one of the things they are well known for, along with great reliablity and long life even when putting out multiples of it's stock power with the RB26 and it's internal bracing.

There are quite a few 1000HP+ GT-R's out there in the rest of the world.

The GT-R is not a king of all feats though.

You just answered what I stated. I never said that the 280PS limit was a hard limit...

We are talking the R32-34 series of skylines though, those fell under that 280PS limit for advertising.

The real output for the R34 I believe was around 300-310PS on average.

yep, we have more than a few here in Australia, thanks to the local release of the R32 and R33, as well as the development of the R32 during the International Group A touring car days (which resulted in it being banned from competition in Australia...not for safety reasons as one might think).

We have a few companies that have specialised in producing big horse power RB series engines for the street (Nizpro comes to mind here with their big horse power RB30ET - R31 Skyline and GMH VL Commodore setup's).

It's not uncommon to see RB25DET, RB26DETT or RB30ET powered VL Commodore's here in Australia sporting close to or better than 1000hp and being totally streetable (and registered) ,however emission compliance is very questionable but hey who cares when you have that much grunt.

bleh. I wasn't trying to start anything. I just mentioned those two cars (350z and Supra) because they are the fastest in their group. The group has Z06s, Cobras, and a few other imports.
The fastest in the group is the 350z which is running around 650 to the wheels. The supra is around 500ish, but supposedly can be up to 650 with racing gas (100-150HP increase??? that's what they say).

To be fair to the domestic lovers.. when both of those drivers go out they search for domestics or bikes. None of the imports in this area can touch them, well from what I've seen. The z06 in the group I believe is putting in a turbo and the driver of the Z said it should be close or faster than his car.

from what I've learned from "tagging" along.. you can make domestics really fast. You can make imports really fast too , but it'll cost you more.

Emissions was one of the RB's weak points and another reason Nissan switched directions on engine development.

I can easily fit any of the RB's into my 240sx here, but like the SR engine...my car is now federal illegal whether or not we have inspections here.

With owning a home, I don't want the possible fine, vehicle impoundment and smog lien placed on my house but would love even a RB25DET under the hood.

Also if anyone has missed it, Full Race found a way to put the whole GT-R drivetrain into a 240SX....AWD and all: here

He says the GT-R is a "much more respected automotive icon" than Mustang or Corvette. That's absolutely ridiculous and deserves a big huge "LOL". Maybe even a "ROTFLMAO".

The first time i heard about the skyline was when I played the first Gran Turismo on the Playstation. I wouldn't consider it a bigger icon than corvette or mustang...atleast not in the U.S., but if given the choice I would pick the Skyline in a heartbeat.

As an icon, the mustang and corvette have more followers, but even they have more respect for the GT-R if they understand it. As idiots that just follow a name brand then no...they will say Mustang>>>>>>>>* Corvette>>>>>>>>>>>>*.

A Z06 is not a supercar. It's a higher end sportscar.

A lot of midlifers buy the vette, porsche, ferrari, etc thinking it's going to make them young again or because they never could previously.

Fact is a hot car can get you alot of hot women even if you are a fat old man. They will use you to be seen and profit when the older guy buys them nice clothes/jewelry/tuition, but they are also usually putting out...it's a win-win really. No one is usually looking for a relationship out of it.

it will give the Z06 a run for a money, but a nissan with a decent interior? HAHAHAHAHA. you kill me.

Have you been in any Nissan Maxima...maybe Murano??

it's not priced as a supercar, but it performs as one.
