I loved the movie, but as others have stated, I was not thrilled with the ending - it did leave a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.
Other than that, I loved it...GF wasnt as impressed.

GF kept looking at her watch wanting to know when it was going to end so she could leave. I in turn, loved it.

I don't know for sure. It is one reason I like this movie so much is that it allowed me to draw my own conclusions and assumptions.

Woody asks Brolin if he was in Nam (in the hospital scene). Woody describes that he has seen all types but none like Anton. Also, the deputy tells the sherrif that he was amazed that the killer kills the night clerk at the hotel one day and then comes back and kills a reitred Army colonel (Woody).

Also, one thing I just thought of. The sherrif connects the dots when he realizes that Anton is carrying something like what a butcher uses when he slaughters cattle. I just realized Anton must think people in general are cattle, mindless and beneath notice. He doesn't hate people just like we don't hate cows. Yikes!

There they got Josh Brolin's information and the hotel where he was staying. Josh was still expecting Anton to come so he didn't really see the Mexicans until it was too late. They killed him and got the money.

Or did they...

2) The two corporate guys worked for Stephan Root (Milton from office space), Anton whacks them because the deal went bad. Anton kills Stephan because not only did the deal go bad but he sent Woody Harrelson after him. Woody knows him because Anton was a killing machine in Nam.

3) He kills Josh's wife.

The book did state that Anton was in Nam.

Saw the movie last night. EXCELLENT. One of the most perfectly cast movies I've ever seen. Everyone nailed their parts.

***SPOILERS****

I can see why people are annoyed with the ending, but I think they are missing the point.

Tommy Lee Jones' character is an antique in a "modern" (read extremely brutal and cold) world. While he is the only one smart/tough enough to figure out exactly what is going on, he has outlived his time, and is a stranger in a strange land.

It is my impression that he enters the room expecting to be gunned down, only to be ignored and forgotten because he is no longer relevant. The final scene, where he describes his dream shows clearly that he will continue to live in a world that has no place for him, irrelevant and forgotten.

I think the ending was perfect. The senseless waste of a good mans life juxtaposed against the senseless slaughter of other lives.

For those who don't dig the ending, the book ended in almost the exact same way. Very philosophical and drawn out.

The Coens seem to have stuck faithfully to the book. Unfortunately it did not translate well to the screen in this case.

I heard this is an excellent movie and someone, in the entertainment industry, even hinted at a possible academy award for Josh Brolin for his performance.

I've got to see this film.

Thank you. Finally someone that understood the movie and didn't need a spoon-fed ending.

I enjoy movies that leave the ending a little hazy, so that when I rewatch it, I might interpret the movie differently and see new things. I've never understood why people are so concerned with how a movie ends. I enjoy the way the story progresses and if it doesn't tie everything up, even better. If people are so concerned with knowing exactly what happens to every character at the end, why go see the movie? Just go read the spoilers and make a list of characters and what happens to each.

But that's why shows like CSI are dominant; they explain everything in detail at the end of each episode so that the next week doesn't tie into it at all and there isn't any doubt in your mind what happened. If CSI had made some of the conclusions a little open-ended, the show would have failed years ago. I guess that's just the culture of today.

I'd say with a straight face that Brolin, Jones, and Bardem all gave Oscar-worthy performances. The actresses in the movie were excellent as well, but none of the female roles was deep enough to warrant an Academy nod IMO.

I saw this movie yesterday because of the good reviews. It was decent.

SPOILERS: Some of the scences were not necessary IMO. For example, the talk between the main character and the woman at the motel (I have beers in my room..). Why the killer got Tbone at the end and then walked away? I understand about Lee Jones character and how he felt about retiring and such (Want me to help you around the house?)

Last but not least, no gun fight between the main character vs. the bad guy at the end? Booo..LOL. I thought it would be like in the original Terminator.

Oh, and the wife is HOT HOT HOT. Love the way she talks....so sexxxxy. If I was the main character, I would jumped her after I found the money instead just got a drink.

<<----- Loves southern women with country/western accents.

One of the most unusual movies I've seen in a while, but I really liked it. I can see how many people wouldn't though -- I'm surprised it has an 8.9 on IMDB (ranked #15 best movie of all time currently).

A lot of scenes that went against the norm. You expect one thing but it doesn't turn out that way which contributed to it letting me down.

That element of predictability is exactly what I despise about cinema, music, debate, and even video games. I despise predictability. The only thing I can guess is that some people find comfort in it, whereas I find nothing but boredom and contempt.

Rant aside, I'm very much looking forward to this flick although it may be a while before I can see it (living overseas.)

If you've seen Trainspotting, you've seen much more of her.

Thought the movie was excellent, but after the car wreck I wasn't paying enough attention and was startled that the credits started rolling after the sheriff's dialogue. Definitely a see more than once movie.

Saw it yesterday. Took a few hours for it to really sink in.

There was a scene that I completely didn't understand.
Near the middle of the movie, the sheriff pulls over a flatbed truck which had bodies in it. He re-secures the tarp covering them, and chews the driver out.

What was happening? Whose bodies were they dumping?

***spoiler question***

Thought that the movie was pretty decent. A few firearms mistakes were made for such a gun heavy movie, and a few slow scenes. Chigurh was a great character. Anyways, one thing that I didn't understand was when Jones went into the motel at the end where the money was and the camera shows Chigurh waiting in the dark with his shotgun, only he wasn't in the hotel room. Where the hell was he?

***spoiler question***

He was in the room next door. He knows Moss hides stuff in the ventilation duct in one room and gets the adjoining room to retrieve it.

Ok, that was my guess. But I wasn't 100% sure. Although with that vent it was impossible to get it from the next room.

If Chigurh was in the room next door, then why did they show him looking at the opening in the door lock, which had been blown out? The same opening that the Sheriff was looking at before he drew his gun and opened the door? Looked like the same room to me.
