C2D E6600, Radeon x1950Pro, no graphical glitches, no sound problems, no crashing, no performance issues.

It runs well on high settings. It's really awesome; definitely the most atmospheric game I've ever played, and the audio work is incredible.

I run it fine after my system stability was fixed.

Right, but it's the idea that you have to have internet access to play a single player game. I didn't have internet access when I lived at my parent's house, but I still had a kickass gaming comp and always bought games.

Extenuating circumstances aside, knowing that this game requires an internet connection means that you simply don't buy it.

If you're still able to play without problems after the Steam patch you're lucky. The thread at 2k indicates that several people are having screen corruption issues.

I can play pass the medical level but get this. Now I get BSODs, sometimes the game just freezes and I have to ctrl alt del out out of it, it closes out by itself in the middle of the game while I am playing. This sucks.

This is post the Steam DX10 patch? It looks like I lucked-out again, no problems after about 2-hours of play post patch.

Check your map and log ,gives you a good idea where to go.

As to your crashing,try turning down some graphics options and see if stability improves,may be its your anti-virus real time scanning is causing problems?

I find all my points go towards new slots for plasmids, physical, weapon, and engineering. I really love the whole research aspect, it adds a new level to the game by wanting to take pictures of bad guys.

I'll count myself among the lucky after reading this thread. This game has been an absolute pinnacle of stability since I installed it. Granted, I've only logged 4-5 hours playing it so far, but apparently not everyone else has enjoyed the same experience. I don't find the aliasing at all annoying, and the framerate is 35+ at all times allowing for smooth gameplay.

Bummer for everyone that's run into trouble.

So far so good. Played for a good 3 hours after the patch without issues. Never had issues in the first place I must add.

Running the game in DX10 on Vista 64.

I did this to see if I would fix my crashing issues during vending machines and it worked! Not only that it doubled my performence at the same settings and even tripled my performence in some parts of the game! I can't believe it! If it stays stable after this I am one happy camper! Though we shouldn't have to go through all of this just to get a stable game after paying $50.

I haven't had a hint of trouble either. Performance has been like butter with maxxed settings as well. And yeah, the voice acting is fabulous. The must have paid the voice guys some nice money, because they took their jobs very seriously!

I felt bad on the first little girl cause she was scripted and tried to get away. Still feel kind of bad, but all bets were out the window when the started yelling "Kill him!". After that... I was relentless. And wow those big daddies are a pain, and incredible fun at the same time.

Small tip: never skip hacking a medical staton... I ended up spending over 200 rounds and about 10 medkits on one enemy (not the first 'boss') cause it kept getting away. After I found it again, it was back to full health, and it took 3 full heals for me to follow it all the way to the health station.

I put another 7 hours in today (it was raining? ). The game stalled a few times for over a minute at a time when I picked up certain plasmid canisters. Luckily the HDD LED was always lit, so I didn't start button mashing. Also, near hour 6, the sound started "stuttering" periodically.

The water effects alone are worth the price of admission. Loving it so far... It's no where near as scary as System Shock, even with newer graphics. Might be the "lighter" tone. Who's afraid of the '50s?
