I just had a brown out - lights flicker situation computer shuts down. Nothing else in the house is effected but I can't power the system back on. I unplug and replug the system in and i get power - but now no post - the hdd light and power light come on and the fans come on but nothing. No hdd spin up. So I reseat everything check the processor - doesnt look fried or anything. I then reseat the cables and mem. Still no post. I then start pulling parts - when I pull the hdd cables the hdd's do spin up but no video. I also have an indicator on my motherboard - 2 led lights that have FF. Now it has done that before under normal operation but during boot up it flashes several numbers - now it is just solid. Any ideas?

Okay, here are some ideas. Clear your CMOS. If it doesn't post, and all your hardware is properly attached, then it sounds like your mobo got screwed up the azz.

It was the motherboard, one quick trip to fry's electronix and they exg it and tested the cpu on a new board... I just hope epox boards dont make a habit of failing.

You don't mention having a UPS. You experience a brownout, which may have been followed by a power spike, your mobo fries and you cast the blame on Epox. Sounds like just another example of someone not taking responsibility for their own actions, or inactions.

If the mainboard is the only component to fail, you were lucky.

Did u have any sort of surge protection? if not them either yournpower supply fried or your MB is fried. Either case it wasn't epox's fault for failing. Just an unfortunate incident.

I don't have a UPS but I do have a surge protector and I have insurance in case something like that did happen. Everything else in the surge protector and the other surge protector worked fine. THE ONLY thing that was effected was the motherboard. So yes I took full responsibility took both my motherboard and cpu to the place I bought them and they tested them. The brown out may not have even been the cause but the motherboard was bad. 8 days after I bought it. Don't accuse others of not being responsible.
