This ****** problem has been causing a major problem in the rear for quite some time now, and I really, really, REALLY need your help.
First, here is my current system specs:
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 550 (3.4GHz)
RAM: 1GB (2x512MB) DDR400 Generic Memory (2.5-3-3-5)
Motherboard: ASUS P5P800
GPU: PixelView GeForce 6800 Ultra (AGP)
PSU: OCZ Powerstream 420W
Disks:
- 120GB Western Digital Caviar (ATA133)
- 200GB Seagate Barracuda (SATA)
Other: Thermaltake BigWater SE Watercooling Kit + VGA Block
Monitor: Dell UltraSharp 1905FP
Now, onto the problems:
This began happening suddenly around 2 months ago. When I turned on my PC, I would hear it POST, but continue getting "no signal" on the monitor. At first, I thought it was a bad cable or something. It suddenly started working again, and I didn't think too much of it.
Then everything started to ****** up. I began to get artifacts when playing games, and there were occasional glitches even in 2D. Suspecting the video card, I tried it on another computer, only to have it run rock stable for 24 hours. When I installed my VGA card back in my system, I started to get the "no signal" on my monitor again. For some stupid reason, the computer would POST just fine with any other AGP cards, and none of them would cause any kinds of artifacts - all but my 6800 Ultra. Even more stupid, I tried running my 6800 Ultra on other computers and it worked perfectly fine with no artifacts.
Did this motherboard hate my video card or something?
Then the ****** really hit the fan. My motherboard suddenly refused to POST entirely - manually starting it up did not work. I was happy in a way, thinking that perhaps my motherboard was the culprit. So I sent it off for RMA, and waited for three weeks.
And the motherboard arrived today. Filled with hope, I took my time, reassembling everything from scratch. It was done at last.
The moment I pressed the power switch I was so ****** happy to see it POST fine, without the "no signal" BS. I was even more happy to see zero artifacts in 2D/3D.
My happiness was ephemeral. After running for a while, the PC suddenly rebooted - and ******, "no signal". What's more, is that what used to be a 3 second wait between pressing the power switch and hearing the PC POST has now turned to 20 seconds. In other words, I press the power switch, wait for 20 ****** seconds to hear this junk POST, only to get "no signal".
I am finding it difficult to suppress my frustration and anger at this point. I would be so ****** happy to smash this POS to dust with a sledgehammer - had I the money to burn. Obviously I don't, and I need to get this crap fixed ASAP before it breaks me as well...
