Ive had this problem for over a year now with a comptuer. I have replaced the power supply, motherboard, CPU, Video Card and the problem is still occuring. I installed all the new parts and the computer turns on, acts like it is running fine, but there is nothing on the screen. It is not the video card, because this is the 3rd one I have tried. I cant even get into the BIOS or see that it is trying to post. THere are no error beeps or anything. Any ideas???

Take everything out of the case, and try it on a non-conductive surface. There might be a short in your case.

As you say you have tried all of these new components:

" I have replaced the power supply, motherboard, CPU, Video Card and the problem is still occuring. and a new case / power supply "

I see where there are only two things that are still viable:

RAM or Hard Disk.

From what you have stated you have a new computer ( with the exception of the RAM and Hard Disk ) with the same problem as the old computer.

Try new ram with and without the hard drive or any CD Drive and see what happens then. I have seen a damaged drive ribbon cause these types of problems also.

Just the minimum:
CPU, MotherBoard, Video Card, Ram...

Ya this is the 2nd new mobo, all i have running right now is a brand new power supply, new mobo, ram and cpu/heatsink and it still doesnt post. Shouldnt the computer still post with bad ram though?

Does the computer boot into the OS? Can you see the OS? Not to offend, have you verified the monitor works?

When there was a hd connected, the OS does not boot either. I am just trying to see the BIOS right now. The monitor works fine and was tested using it connected as a dual monitor on a laptop. It is a flatscreen DVI and is connected to the DVI input on the dual-DVI video card, I have tried both video inputs on teh card also.

No luck with different ram either. Could it be the CPU? Would it normally go into the BIOS without a CPU attached, I could try pulling it out..

It shouldn't post with a defective CPU, but you stated you tried a different CPU above???

I am not saying this is your prob, but I have had a blank monitor situation (with everything installed), and it turned out I needed to use a correct version dual lnk vid cable for some reason.
http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/dvi_info.html

you should try a cmos reset, and see that all xtra power cables are installed - cpu vid
and it would be extra nice to know your monitor and vidcard and cpu
>>>>also, some mobo bios come from factory not yet flashed for latest cpu used

do the fans spin?

Dude if I could tell you I would. From the post above from you you have replaced everything there is MB, CPU, Ram, Video and you still have the same problem. Did you try without the drives CD and HD as I suggested above?

The lowest common denominator is you? Not blaming just observing.

You have the cables as pointed out above.... leave no stone unturned. Remember it is pointless to keep trying the same things over and over and expecting the results to change.

My hardware is:
Abit NV8 Motherboard
AMD Socket 754 3000+ CPU 64-bit
Corsair DDR PC400 512MB
BFG GForce 7600 GT OC 256MB PCI Express
Antec 430W Truepower Power Supply
Dell 18" Flatscreen
USB Keyboard

These are all the components that are plugged in. None of the CDROM or HDs are plugged in and I am running it outside of a computer tower to eliminate any problems the case may be causing. I am connecting the power to the motherboard, keyboard, DVI, the ram is in slot 1 and CPU and fan are installed and power is connected to the motherboard for the fan. The fans spin on the motherboard, CPU and video card.

yeah I have tried another monitor also. Should the mobo beep when starting up even without a PC speaker connected? because it doesn't beep either.

it has a speaker in the case. almost all cases i have seen do. hold the insert key when you turn it on. it should boot. if not, remove the battery on the mobo for about a minute, and do it again.

if that doesnt, work, or you dont get at least a beep, start removing hardware. get down to just the cpu, memory and mobo. if it still doesnt boot, then check that you have installed these items correctly. if you have, remove the memory. if it doesnt beep then, you have a bad mobo at least.

does your motherboard have on board video? if so disable that sucker in the bios and then use your video card for video output.

Try to get your hands on a cheap PCI video card. You might have a bad pcie slot.
