NOD does a solid job, on viruses, but it isn't the best when it comes to other threats.

Rokop is well respected and you don't need to read German to be able to interpret the chart. Nice thing is that they indicate system impact for each app on the bottom of the chart.

You want the best, KAV 5.0 is it IMO, based on my testing, reading and the fact that they have decent, responsive support. Fully functional 30 day trial can be downloaded at www.kaspersky.com.

You buy a free AV, you get what you pay for and shouldn't bitch if you get infected.

Regarding VB, it is ONE resource, but remember it isn't the end all. Good example is that BitDefender failed the most recent test. Why? 1 False positive. I'd rather have an app that identifies a potent threat than miss it.

i might be buying kaspersky antivirus and want to know which version is better (better virus detection&removal)

Might I suggest www.kaspersky.com and reading the product descriptions.

You don't need workstation anyway, iunless you're going to install it in an administered environment

FYI Personal Pro and Workstation will not give you any kind of a huge lift over Personal in terms of detection ability.

i've already looked at their website however, it isn't clear what features are included in what product. wished their was a product feature comparison table, which clearly outlined the differences.....

i am going to install this on the LAN..., it appears that it is cheaper to buy a 5-user license pack for the workstation instead of buying 5 personal pros.

this is why i am asking if there is a difference between the workstation and the personal pro.

I switched from Norton AntiVirus 2004 to Kaspersky 5 yesterday due to several issues I was having with Norton. One thing I noticed during the first full scan by Kaspersky was it found a passworded .zip file in my Spybot S&D folder could not scan it and asked for password. Now I have been using Spybot S&D for a long time and Norton never once alerted me about that file. That tells me when Kaspersky says is scans compressed files it is really scanning compressed files and Norton on the other hand does not ,do such a good job there.
