Non-technical cloud storage?

A friend asked me if there was any way she could backup her files somewhere online, and have the files be updated automatically or semi-automatically. A place where the data would be safe, but kept up-to-date. It would be even better if new files were automatically backed up, as well.

I honestly have no experience at all with this kind of thing. I looked around a bit online, but it seems the vast, vast majority of these kinds of services are meant for enterprise purposes, and require a more than average level of technical understanding. She just wants to back up her documents and such. (She's a teacher.) It's possible she wants to back up everything, including mp3s and images, but I doubt those are the highest things on her list.

Are there any services or programs that do that sort of thing?

I'm loving CrashPlan. They have an unlimited version for $60/year (EDIT: just checked and prices are even lower now). You select what folders to backup, it sync's them online with versioning. You can grab your files from "anywhere" through their web portal, or locally using their utility.

Also, they have a free version with pretty much the same features without the cloud storage. In other words, you can target another HDD, USB, or even someone else's computer with your encrypted files and they are stored happily there.

Give the free version a shot to see if she's happy with the interface and style, then paying $$$ allows you to backup online instead of just to your local devices.
