Any opinion on note 9 vs s10+ (any personal eperience?). My view of trade (on paper not first hand) is note 9 is current 300 dollar less than s10+; s10+ has brighter screen and better (pllus louder) speakers as well as better battery life. note 9 has spen which has some value (for myself) but minor. (I'm still on note 4 so i know how much i use it or don't use it).

I'm leaning towards s10+ but the note 9 is a lot less expensive so tempting. The note 4 i have is showing its age so I'm getting to the point I need to upgrade.

I had a Note 8 and went to the S10+ because of the trade in offer they had. I plan to stick with this for a long time I think, I am tired of new phones!. Overall, I feel good about the S10+ and I never used the S-Pen. But that's me... each person is different. The battery life is great and I grabbed the unlocked so no more waiting for carriers to sit on their hands.

Personally, I'd go for the Note 9. Best phone I've ever had, I stil feel I want for nothing. Even runs the Pixel Camera with night mode just fine.

If you don't use the s-pen, the S10 is a great choice tho, you pretty much can't go wrong with either.

The s-pen also doubles as a camera shutter and that feature has been such a godsend for me. So many times I find myself thinking, it'd be way easier to take this shot if I can just hold the phone steady and not worry about pressing anything on it... OH WAIT! I can! Without any external crap I *never* have on me. Note 9 is the phone where "they litterally thought of everything."

As having both the note 9 and s10+ as well as every galaxy phone, I can honestly say get both. I'm torn with the two. Love the note 9 and it's bt pen and love the screen on the s10+. The only thing I hate is the inscreen fingerprint scanner. It sucks ass. Currently my s10+ is my goofing off weekly phone and the note 9 is my media consumption device. My s9+ is relegated to vr headset.

Nice having both!

Much as I don't like notches or camera holes in the screen, I have to say at least the s10 does it in the least horrible way.

If a person prefers an unobstructed screen, the Note 9 still wins. All a matter of preference.

OP: go to a phone store and check both out and get the one you prefer.

It's a shame Samsung doesn't still have their month long free test drive program.

I've chedked them out in the store; but there are tid bits someone who actually own the phones can learn that one misses in the stores.... was hopeful for more tidbits...

whats the pixel camera mean? S10 will give newer chipset power consumption and wifi6. I also have a small blutooth remote for 1.99 that controls action camera or phone or dslr or......

It means some wizard at xda ported the Google Pixel 3 camera software to the Note 9. Night Sight (the only feature I really care about) works great.

I use the Google camera software more often than the built in, because it makes better use of the dual cameras IMO.

Yeah we all have those little Bluetooth remotes and the chances we'll have it on us when needed when a random picture opportunity crops up.. slim to nill.

Chances the Note 9 will... always ready, always charged, always connected? Pretty much 100%.

I think the cutouts are hideous...I have the Note 9 currently and definitely will not be upgrading to any Note/Galaxy device that has a cutout.

The Note 9 has been fantastic, and I have found the S-pen to be more useful than I thought it would be (it's my first Note device). Only thing I really dislike is the curved screen...wish Samsung would ditch those...at least there is an option with the S10e now.

I would say that it depends on your needs, priorities, planned use cases and, of course, budget.

Think you'll make use of S-Pen and it's a priority feature? Note 9
Want the most bang for your buck? Note 9
Can't stand camera notches or cutouts/holes? Note 9
Want to take photos/videos remotely (using stylus)? Note 9
Do you value a more responsive fingerprint sensor over having one on front? Note 9
Want about 1 hour extra battery life? S10+
Want the ability to record video without time limits? S10+
Need more than 512GB of storage on-board? S10+
Want marginally better HDR, color accuracy + ~8% (800 nits more) brighter display? S10+
Want to take selfies that allow a wider angle to fit more people in? S10+
Want an overall superior camera system? S10+
Does a fingerprint sensor on back bother you? S10+
Want the latest and fastest wireless standards? S10+
Want less of a bezel on the top and bottom than Note 9? S10+
Need the absolute fastest performance and have an app that will take advantage of it? S10+

Whichever phone checkboxes your requirements would be the one for you.

I've personally decided to stick with Note 9 and will see what Note 10 brings to the table. You can get a 128GB version for around $715. A 512GB version is still well under $1000, if you look around.

I went with the note 9 since it was cheaper (paid $715); the primary feature of the s10+ I wanted was the louder speakers and longer battery life. My #1 complaint with the note 9 is that the speaker phone is very soft. The speakers for alerts et all is fine but for whatever reason the speaker phone is dirt soft and that is really annoying.
