Notebook & Games???

Hi!
My notebook: Pen3-600, 64MB, 8MB VIdeo, 12Gig....

If I upgrade RAM to 192MB, will EA Sports NHL2001 would run better?
Should I give up playing games with notebook?

depends on the video card on your laptop, i have a compaq with a trident 4 meg video card (uses an extra 4 megs from my system memory so it totals 8) h owever it doesnt support opengl, so quake3 and all those other fine games can be scratched off...

i can play red alert 2, age of empires and other games along those lines and some D3d games but its not that great...

Notebooks generally blow for 3D games. For 2D games they should be just fine.

3D Notebook gaming isn't very good right now; however, it should be improving some soon with the release of the Nvidia Geforce 2 GO video card and ATI Mobile Radeon video card.

Agrees with most of the above posts. I play Diablo 1 and Baldur's Gate and a couple other games in the strategy catagory but nothing 3d. The video just isn't even in the ballpark. Even with the new mobile video chips coming out, I don't think it will be in the ballpark and affordable anytime soon. I think they'll actually be at about the speed for Quake 2. Just my opinion especially when video isn't the only bottleneck on laptops.
My suggestion is to plug in a monitor and see if that improves things. The LCD display can give one a major headache when trying to play fast moving games. What kind of 8 mb video do you have? I think the best available right now is probably the rage chip but they aren't that great. Its really a power thing.
