Novell GroupWise WebAccess

I am wanting to setup a novell server.. basically for my users..(zenworks) and as an email server with access to email via web. i already have a webserver on a different machine than what im going to be using.

is this possible and any help with it.. i can install the server OS, but from that point.. im not sure about setting up the email service.

It's been about 5 years since I set this up, but I believe you will have to:

1. Install server OS, which you've already done

2. Install Groupwise, verify that it is working. Sounds like you've done that too.

3. Install Novell Webserver, or other webserver that works with Novell.

4. Install Groupwise webaccess app, pointing it to the groupwise installation and the webserver installation.

You can do all of this on the same server if you want. If the server is behind a firewall, as it should be, you just need to open up tcp port 80 to it for the groupwise webaccess to function. I would recommend that the webserver run on a different machine than your main fileserver. IIRC, you don't even have to use the Novell Webserver to get this working, but that's what I used since we had a spare license for the box. I did not have any issues with this 5 years ago, with netware 4.11 and 5.0. I do not recall having to edit the config files manually to get it working initially. All of this might have changed, so good luck.

The above instructions are good. You can run apache off of Novell for free I think.
We are currently using GroupWise 5.2 with the webaccess connector and Netscape web server. There is some configuration work that must be done, but depending on your version of Netware, it might be easy to get running. I know our Netware 4.11 and GroupWise 5.2 setup and config was a bit of a bear way back when.

well all i have is the 3 user free version.. that means 3 clients physically .. like in the intranet right? or does that mean only 3 user accounts can be created (only 3 email addresses)?

do i have to purchase all the different packages as well?

I don't know what is bundled with nw 5.1, but 3 user means 3 user accounts which are given email accounts. Since you are using NDS with netware, you will be able to setup 3 users and if you have groupwise installed, you will be able to give those 3 users email accounts.
Nw 5.1 doesn't come with groupwise out of the box unless your trial version comes with a groupwise trial as well.
