LOL at you, speculating about NRA membership. Excellent tactic though, take a group you vehemently oppose and imply members are conflicted, as if 100% must be lockstep. I belong to to several organizations or associations and do you think I'm on board with 100% of what they say and do? Does anyone? Considering myself and the dozen gun enthusiasts I know are not part of the NRA (and I'm sure many others on P&N have the same experience), it takes a pretty committed person to actually join and I think it's safe to say the NRA crowd is a pretty tight group. Regardless, the actual number of people who support the NRA's general cause is much, much larger than their membership.

I didn't imply they were conflicted, polling by uber right wing pollster frank luntz did. Ignore it if it makes you feel better though.

Heh, I'm not ignoring it, I'm laughing at you for the using as an angle. News flash, some people in a group don't always agree with the group!! If that's what you want to use to push your agenda, have at it, because that's really good stuff

75% of that group disagreed with leaderships position on a major issue currently under debate. That's notable to me. If it isn't to you...uhmm....ok.

How about a link to that ...... umm poll? Not that you're lying about it, but frankly your past reliability isn't too high.

Notable in what sense? That an organization wants to "bargain" from a position that allows wiggle room and less chance of giving up too much? That an organization has internal debates or that what their position today might end up being a little different in a week?

Say 74% of NRA members support background checks for concealed carry. Does that mean 74% would be against a background check for concealed carry? No it doesn't. Is the data 2 weeks old and can that make a difference now? I'm saying this because you have to understand the meaning of the data and the limitations of the data. I'm not sure you do.

Spin Spin Spin.

Uhmm, basically every Republican president and presidential nominee says them all the time. Additionally, they do it.

Though I'm not flying off the handle with hysteria like many are (as I don't think any serious EO will come of the gun control issue), I do think that Obama would drastically limit gun rights if he thought he could get away with it. Holder is on record, from years ago, as being very pro gun control. That whole mess with Fast and Furious doesn't help either, you know.

The reactions are not remotely comparable. This isn't Obama actually doing anything, it was a statement that they might do some nebulous thing in the future. This was responded to with pure, batshit lunacy. I am unaware of any democrats threatening to go down in a hail of gunfire because say...Bush said hr didn't like abortion.

More false equivalence.

/slaps head.

You've GOT to be kidding me! Look how much fuss was made over the whole 'I have a right to free BC pills' this past summer.

Institute a 3 day waiting period to buy a gun and people complain? The left sneers and ridicules at all the in-bred, toothless, white racist, subhuman freaks.

Institute a 3 day waiting period for a woman to have an abortion and demand that all alternatives are presented to her, including adoption. The left explodes in a shrieking, head-spinning rage at denying a woman's right to choose.

The denial and projection by the left is really getting old.

Meanwhile, millions of others have decided that reasonalble gun control measures will have to be a part of a rational future for the US.

We have reasonable gun control, you want more, then you need to give up something. Compromise isn't just gun owners giving you what you want.

I want nothing. The gun culture fostered by gun manufacturers to create an army of psychotics to defend gun possession in conjunction with the simpering cowardliness of the conservative brain defect has created a culture of paralysis and fear within our politics that all the children being killed by guns as a result of their ubiquity is eroding. Change is the only constant. The psychotic will be run over or they will come to the table and compromise. As insane as gun owners are about their guns, mothers are more insane about their kids and they vote in larger numbers. America is always about asshole men and liberal women and we know who's going to win.

We're only talking about 100,000 here. The 4.1 million was already pwned in the 2008 and 2012 elections.

Yes, because if you're not the deciding factor of an election you're beneath notice and were "pwned". Lol, please run for President someway. I want to laugh at this mentality in action as your opponent beats you with the support of the NRA.

"Since the vicious political attacks on the NRA and gun rights "

a vicious attack is killing children.

Expressing an opinion about a political lobby or a policy isn't an attack and it isn't vicious.

You see, idiots like you, are the reason gun owners aren't going to budge anymore. Fuck you, and your pseudo-intellectual psychobabble.

No, because the gun manufacturers have absolutely nothing to do with our existing pro-gun culture, it's more a result of our pioneering cultural heritage. Moonbeam may claim that he wants nothing, but he's stated time and time again that he opposes conservative political values and that anyone who has those values is brain damaged.

He said vicious political attack.

Adjectives.. they matter.

It still isn't an attack. And it isn't vicious.

Its particularly obnoxious to call a political difference of opinion a vicious attack in the context of a real vicious attack like what happened in Sandy Hook.

it is disgraceful.

fine words that I can respect someone using ina political discussion, although I don't understand why you see gun control as amoral ?

banning guns, i could see that level of rhetoric, but what's actually being discussed you see as amoral ?
