Can anyone help me? I have no idea what this means. Everything was going well until I installed the NVIDIA drivers.:|

I had that exact problem! All you have to do is go into the BIOS, set the boot order so the CD-ROM is first, put in your windows install cd, run the install and format at the same time with the built in thing (at least with XP). Then when you start it up, everything shoud be fine. Just go back and reset the boot order and your good. Might have to start with a clean slate when you format, but at least your computer works, right?

You're suggesting that he re-install XP after formatting his HD w/o letting him know that he will lose everything on his drive?

Forget formating. Just do a repair from the installation cd.

I had this problem with Win2k (microsoft acknowledges the bug but I remember that they haven't done anything about it yet) and a repair didn't fix it. What I did was go to my old 233mhz and installed win2k on it and copied NTLDR to a floppy. From there I just copied it onto my pc and that is how i fixed it

just copy the NTLDR from the Winxp install cd. It's in the /I386 folder.

ElvesChasm should have enough info to fix the problem now.

But installing the Nvidia drivers should not have done anything like this to him. Once XP was installed, as far as I can see the only good reason NTLDR would be missing is that the C: drive was reformatted, or that the original HD that XP was booted from was changed.

Other than that NTLDR should have not disappeared off the disk, and if it is gone, there are liable to be other files corrupt or missing.
