Maybe I'm missing something, but the only thing super about these cards is more VRAM due to higher capacity modules, but they're still GDDR7. Perhaps they can push the power up and get clocks higher on core and/or memory, but that's a pretty limited gain. Maybe they'll cut prices like they did with the 4080 super, i.e. not much performance upgrade, but $200 off of the 4080's price.

I am still holding out hope that they would also respin to N4P and get higher clocks that way... seems very unlikely though.

It's hard to imagine what a Super lineup even looks like for Blackwell. GB203 is tapped out, other than higher clocks. 24GB RAM is nice enough, but we're not really at the point where 16GB is failing quite yet. 5070 Ti Super basically just is a 5080. 5070 Super could have 6400 SM which would be a 4% uplift, and 18GB would help in certain cases and would make a lot of sense. GB205 is already maxed out and there's no need for more than the 16GB VRAM it has available.

It'd be a pretty lame showing, just a correction to some of the VRAM mistakes they've made on certain cards.

Honestly I thought this was the obvious plan all along.

I think expecting only enough to cross the lowest bar possible to "refresh" with a straight face will happen.

I think the 5070Ti is going to be in a weird spot. Either they leave it alone and weirdly it has less ram than a 5070S or they juice it to 24GB which, tbh, seems like it would be the main pull of the 5080S.

Or, you know, they could spend the months between here and now just goosing the ram capacity on two SKUs and then proclaim "You get future proof ram amounts AND stable drivers with a 5xxxS card!" and the extra ram and the "stable" drivers might actually be enough to get people to move.

Oh and what, 10-20W increases in TBP for some slight clock lifts? Huzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzah.

Oh yeah, and quantity would have a quality all its own, right?

All of blackwell problems are related to them using the same 5nm process they used for Lovelace on top of using the same chip size for most of their chips. If they were using N4P, we would be getting atleast 10% higher clocks which could have made a huge difference in the launch.

But Nvidia cheaped out and what we got was the super super 4xxx series. It was a huge execution error on Nvidia's part and a sad look for one of the worlds richest companies.

Not at all convinced about 24GB models, because as opposed to the lower end SKU's, they really don't need to bump the 5080. 16GB is 'fine' for gaming. Not much of a buffer, but absolutely fine. I imagine NVidia would rather want to secure earnings for the 6000 series and releasing a 5080 with 24GB would make those buyers sit out their next upgrade for a long time. I might be wrong (probably am) but that's my thoughts. Lower end cards are a no brainer though, even +50% VRAM doesn't give them that much longevity.

I guess if they are going to bump the 5070 to 18, may as well bump the 5080 to 24.

I could see the 5070 Ti getting the shaft though. Might help use up the 2 GB chips.

So how do you explain the random ROPS options?

Jensen is worried for the poor gamers who don't want 5080 16GB but also don't have the cash for 5090. His compassionate move to give them what they want will stand the test of time and secure his legacy as the savior of PC gaming for generations to come. I can't believe they aren't using Jensen V1, V2 etc. for the GPU codenames. They must rebel against their benefactor's wishes to appear humble and plaster his name all over the README files in the drivers at least. It is only right that he be revered, dead or alive.

Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit - close enough...

Tide lifts all boats...

Oblivion remastered runs so badly because it constantly runs out of VRAM...

It's pretty slow on 4090, it's the Unreal thing
