The base isn't that large. It's 11.5" wide and just under 8" deep. My rig is on a mobile cart which is only about 3-4" wider than the monitor. Guess it's the reason I'll only buy a fully adjustable stand monitor these days.

Looks like it's for Rev00 and the one I got is Rev03. I just looked and I did load a profile but not sure if it's that one or another one I found. Shows as Dell S2716DG v2.icc when I check. Only thing I did on the monitor settings is drop down brightness to 35 and made a couple of changes with color setting in the Nvidia control panel. Took about a minute or so to tweak to my liking.
It should fit my desk, I was only worried about how deep the stand was as if it was going to interfere with where my keyboard sits. I don't have one of those sliding panels for the keyboard. Got this cheap desk when I finished college years ago and haven't bothered looking at others since.

Good to hear it's A03 A0 had some issues with the colors and such, as I read online. I believe that's the TFT profile, I got the same file name when I downloaded it from their site.

I'll need to use on board graphics though until I get a 1070 so I can mess with the color settings in the nvidia control panel.

Gigabyte G1 Gaming vs Zotac AMP Edition? Do you think the Gigabyte is worth a $30 premium? These are the only 2 options I currently have.

It uses the same board as the gigabyte windforce. How much is the zotac amp?

The only difference is the clocks for the gigabyte. I came close to having the windforce last night, was out driving and when I got into order it went through but newegg ran out of stock right after I placed my order so they voided it.

Not the same GPU, but I'm seriously debating just buying the GTX 1080 Amp Edition. Microcenter has one in stock for $660.

Wish I could find images for it dismantled. If my EVGA Hybrid kit fits on it, I might just buy one from Amazon before they disappear and call it a day. OC the crap out of it and either regret it with 1080 Ti hits, or coast for another hopefully 6-10 months before the itch strikes again. I'm now almost 2 months over my upgrade point :/

Clock difference is pretty negligible but the cooling system seems radically different on both. I dig the look of the Gigabyte far more but I don't let these things come in the way of buying a GPU.

The Zotac is $530 and Gigabyte is $560. Outrageous I know but I don't have a choice. Both of these are the best dual slot cards offered by each company.

The zotac here in US is $439 and the gigabyte g1 is $429 when it's in stock. I don't want to pay $430 when I could have had the one for $400 last night. Jet.com also has the zotac but it's close to $500. You can use a coupon to take $50 off and it's still more expensive than both the gigabytes.

My Dell monitor got delayed for some time. I dunno when best buy will have it ready for pickup so my option is to wait for a newegg coupon code until it gets closer to that date, whatever it will be.

Oh another difference is the g1 has an led light to display fan status of the card's three fans. But both the windforce and g1 have the windforce cooling fans. The g1 also has a backplate. That's the difference between the windforce and the g1 model I see.

Your Dell got delayed again?

Did you check bhphoto.com for 1070's? Not sure if they have any coupons floating around but they usually have most of them in stock at least.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/searc...tNs=p_PRICE_2|0&N=11&srtclk=sort&Ntt=GTX+1070

No sales tax unless your in NY I believe. A lot of them have free shipping, some expedited which is 3 days coast to coast.

I'll check that site too, thanks. I got an email from best buy saying it was on the way to the store from the warehouse and it was scheduled for pickup of 8/2 instead of today.

Got another notification it was ready! Called the store they said that its being shipped and should be here 8/10 or 8/11.

Damn should have placed my order yesterday on Dell. Says it's going to ship in 29-33 days now.
I tried ordering on Dell to see if they would price match best buy. They would not since the website had the check stores button. Seconds after I got out the chat with Dell the add to cart button appeared. Dell usually ships pretty quickly though once you get your order in.

The Zotac also has LED and backplate so I suppose the AMP and G1 are more or less the same thing so the price difference in my case is not really justified. I'll be buying first week of August so I'll see if the prices would have changed by then.

Probably when i will buy as well. If the $399 windforce edition comes in again I'll spring for it. Otherwise if I have to spend more on these other models I'll see if there are any coupons to at least bring them to $400.

The backplate and LED does nothing for me either. My g1 mobo has some io led lights that I can change when I want. It's not like I'll be looking at the card when I'm using it.

My EVGA GTX1070 SC ATX 3.0 arrived today. Installed. Performing well. I did have a little trouble at first.

Booted into safe mode with old card, ran driver uninstaller, it did its thing, I powered down, swapped cards and when I fired back up the new GPU's fans would barely spin -- just pulse briefly like it was starved for power. The machine was booting but the screen was black.

Checked everything. My PSU has a 6+2 pin connector that I had broken out the 2-pins for a 6-pin connector with my previous card. I ended up at first using the supplied EVGA 2x6 to 1x8 adapter. Connected both 6 pin connectors and the 8-pin end to the card.

Wiggled things around, tried to make sure card was reseated. Then it booted up normally and fans turned and I had video. Installed the latest NVIDIA drivers and then ran 3dmark and I was getting like 1-2 fps in every test. Slideshow city. Turns out the card was running at like, 400mhz and not ramping up clock speed at ALL.

Now I'm worried. Take it all down, start over, connect direct from PSU with the 6+2 connector and got rid of the EVGA power adapter. Booted back up and everything suddenly is normal. 3dmark time spy tests are buttery smooth. DOOM is playing at 2K with all settings ultra and super super fast. Card is running like a dream. Silent. Even when fans are spinning.

I've since powered up and down, rebooted a bunch of times, ran a bunch of tests and on and on and it is problem free. Wondering if I just never had the power connector fully secured until I re-did the connection the last time.

Anyway, my upgrade cycle is finally complete. i3-6100, 16GB, GTX950 is now i7-6700, 24GB, GTX1070. Woohoo.

The build quality on the EVGA is quite nice. Very solid. A bit heavy, actually. No flex or cheapo concerns.

The 950 will have a new home with the i3 in a new machine. Just need a mobo, case and PSU and it's set to go. I might end up getting a new PSU and cycling this one to the i3. We'll see.

Anyway, great card. I paid $409 after a $30 discount and $10 off for the card on Amazon. Original list price when I bought it was $449.

$400 feels like a lot for a video card, especially when you're used to paying no more than $200 or $250 but I'm super happy. I can play everything with amazing settings, enjoy lots of games at 2K no issue and it's quiet, cool and damn efficient.

I've read of issues like yours on newegg. Wonder what made it behave that way, strange.

Also that's seems like you got a nice discount from $450 down to $400.

....

This issue of the fans pulsing was not a problem, it was exactly how they are designed to work. Clearly there was something else wrong, but the fan issue wasn't a symptom of it.

Just posting this for others who might buy this card and think that pulsing of the fans suggests there's a problem. It does NOT mean the card is starved for power.

Well now that it's running, the fans actually spin up and run for a second at a normal speed before slowing to a stop as the system boots. Before I had it working properly and when there was no video, the fans were behaving in a way they do not do at all going forward. They twitched, not even one revolution. I don't know if that's normal for other cards. I'll keep my eye on it I suppose.

I am not saying there was an issue with the card. I think the issue might have been a connector that wasn't fully secure, a bad EVA 6 to 8 pin adapter, a possible ground issue with my case and motherboard or something else. The only other thing is some strange thing going on where the motherboard had something about the old card still and needed a few reboots that seems kind of crazy.

Great card, though. And clearly any installation hurdles were no big deal.

Yeah, it's pretty dang solid now. I'm very pleased with the performance. There's always getting a NVMe M.2 SSD, but meh. I need to cut myself off before I get in anymore spousal trouble.

Glad to see you got it running well. I installed my EVGA 1070 SC along with a 4790k, some more ram and a Noctua DH-15. This was a second machine that had a G3258 and my old XFX Radeon 6870. What a great chip the 3258 was. Fortunately my installation went well. Of course now this will become my main rig. No hurry to run to many tests or overclock anything. You slow down a bit at age 67

Quoting myself for an update: a day later, card is working fine. I just might have overlooked something during my install process. The key lesson here is don't give up and freak out if hardware doesn't install perfectly the first try. A golden rule I've deployed since upgrading from CGA to VGA in the early 90s!
