ok heres how i see it. ATI doesnt care because the drivers thay make are never really that good until teh 3rd or 4th release. SO if omega dind tmaek drivers for them people wouldn tbuy their cards

on the flip side omega making drivers for Nvidia cards is allowing people to extended the life of older cards thus screwing Nvidia.

both of which is wrong but you get the money anyway you can

nvidia: " we are nvidia so if you don't like us u can suck it"
ati:" we care about u guys and we will try to improve our drivers"

=\...isn't this how nvidia came to be on top? by caring about their customers and consumers....i mean i've been a fan of nvidia since the first geforce....
thier new fx5900 is nice too....but their policies lately have been bothering me....

Ummm..... A little news.... Neither company gives a rats azz about you... But they do however, care a great deal about your money....
I am assuming that you don't know this, but forgive me if I am mistaken.

If I had to guess, it goes something like this:

Joe Bob picks up a brand new Dell with an nVidia vid card.
His good friend John Doe tells him there's an awesome driver called Omega's nVidia driver that will make his GFX card twice as fast, so Joe downloads it and installs it.
Joe runs into a problem, and since he's using an unofficial driver, he won't get any support from anyone, which makes him a dull boy.
Joe curses at nVidia, and tells all his friends nVidia sucks cause his GFX card won't work.
nVidia feels that's a Bad Thing, especially since they can't really do anything about it, seeing as it's not really their drivers anymore.
nVidia tells Omega to stop making drivers, knowing this will upset a few enthusiasts, but thinks it's worth it since enthusiasts don't matter much anyway, no matter how much they like to think otherwise.

Just IMO.

Omega is more bothered by image quality and stability, not increasing speed.

I expect many more people use the official ATi drivers than the Omega drivers, people won't buy ATi cards just because you can get an Omega driver for them, or hardly anyone would buy an ATi card because not all that many people would know of the Omega drivers. Whether there are Omega drivers or not will not change peoples decisions whether to get ATi/nVidia or whatever.

Your post seems really rather silly. Omegas drivers will not do much to affect sales, if anything.

NVIDIA's marketing is going way to far. I've just about getting fed up with them. Reminds me of the old 3dfx marketing days when they would tell us what they think we need when we are the customers (you don't need 32-bit). Very arrogant. I've emailed their PR. You may want to email them and tell them how pissed you are. Their contact info is available from:

I've got (4) Ati cards right now and have not had any problems that I would/could complain about. Sure there are valid problems with some of the drivers people may be having, but your statement is way off, even nVidia drivers are'nt perfect the first time out of the gate. Nobody's are.

I've been buying Nvidia products ever since riva128, and have never had any issues with my graphics card.

Good to hear, i've owned a total of (5) nVidia based cards, and never really had a problem with those either, and if I did it was minor or my fault loading a driver. I was just impressed with the Radeon IQ compared to an Asus 6800 I had at the same time, the early release Radeon driver problems were cleaned up, so I stuck with Ati, and never had any real problems since.
