Point taken, and I concur...Oakland should not count.
Most have a hard time getting past 12.
Point taken, and I concur...Oakland should not count.
Also, look at your own quote when you talk about vandalism.
So out of 7000 people they had a dozen people come in and cause trouble?
You don't find it even the least bit odd that the people who you credit with being the wisest, most intelligent, and most discerning among us (i.e. those who can see the trees) are also the exact same group completely unable to compete within a free market? They want the same things you do, but you can't see the forest for the trees.
I didn't read such an article.
Since anonymous is anonymous, there's no way of knowing who's actually behind it. People have been saying from the beginning that groups would try to co opt the movement.
I'm assuming any such article that suggested they knew people behind OWS was simply grasping at straws and/or full of shit.
There was a good tweet several weeks ago where somebody said " They just arrested this guy because they thought he was the leader. There is no leader."
But now that I've wasted a few minutes of my time even seeing who this guy you're talking about is... I think you're mis guided. Anarchist groups are among the many fringe groups who have stepped into the ows movement. You posted a tldr article by some guy pretending to have a clue about the founding of ows in order to get people to read his dribble.
But, I tell you what. Why don't you go ask protesters if they've ever heard of this guy you're talking about. Let me know if you get above .05% recognition.
And then we still have the core of the whole thing which is government corruption and people defrauding the country to line their pockets with tax payer money like the newt Gingriches of the world.
I honestly don't care what any OWS people are doing now. The real OWS people are protesting real issues. The opportunistic extremists are the ones bringing weapons, kill capitalism and other such things to protests.
Not that it even matters at all, but most people have no idea goldman sachs has any stake in facebook. It's currently the most popular social media website there is, and happens to be one of the best ways for people to organize large events. To not use it in such a situation would be stupid. But, why am I even responding to you if you are just going to repeat the same thing every post?
This is in a nutshell the whole of the Occupiers - willfully ignorant and proud of it. You aren't even curious who organized this movement, or what their stated goals are; your whole being has become a burning desire to destroy the achievers and take their stuff.
You can't even think far enough ahead to wonder from whence your ipads and iphones and lattes will come once you've destroyed capitalism - you only know you want free stuff now.
Read the article; know the masters you serve. They are very upfront about their goals. I'm fully prepared to believe that you are merely their mindless drone, but they are the ones pulling the strings. You can't even be bothered to wonder who had the idea, who came up with the name, who established the place and the date, who set up the web sites, who sent out the mass mailings and emails that started this. So I have no problem believing that you might not have any intentions of ending capitalism, but the people who brought this about - and the people who run it day to day - certainly have that intention. The rest of you are merely useful idiots. You obviously didn't read my post or just didn't comprehend what was posted.
There are way too many litlte fringe groups out there to pick one and pretend THEY are the ones in charge. This is a modular movement... anybody can come, say what they want, wave around whatever sign they want.
That palehorse is pretending to have some inside info on some anarchist nobody has ever heard of starting ows is just laughable.
I'd bet 10-1 that I heard about OWS weeks before he even got a whiff of anything out of the ordinary happening. Even longer before some no name journalist pretended they had some sort of inside story into a guy nobody has heard of somehow masterminding OWS operations that span across the country and world.
When you talk about "destroying achievers and taking their stuff" that's who's goal exactly?
What you're doing is you're using too many generalizations and then you make posts to people who don't fall into your failed generalizations. To me, the 1% isn't people who are just making 10-20 times more than me per year. It's the people who make so much money that they pay people to find tax loop holes or ship their money to places where they can hide it from taxation. IE, they're criminals.
I see way too many people on here who decry criminal behavior in protesters for things like trespassing and loitering, but not against people who commit crimes that throw our country and economy into ruin..
If I've ever posted anything suggesting ending capitalism please quote post it or stfu already.
I'll try in the future to make my posts more brief so that you can read them all and not look as stupid when you reply to my post with nonsensical dribble that reflects zero comprehension of what you're even replying to.
I really should have stopped reading right there...I didn't read such an article.
Wow... just f'n wow.Since anonymous is anonymous, there's no way of knowing who's actually behind it. People have been saying from the beginning that groups would try to co opt the movement.

Would you say it was peaceful if they vandalized your home and car?
If you are going to claim it was peaceful because they vandalized things
you have to also say it is peaceful if they vandalize things YOU own.
You don't find it even the least bit odd that the people who you credit with being the wisest, most intelligent, and most discerning among us (i.e. those who can see the trees) are also the exact same group completely unable to compete within a free market?
Hyperbole.
If they vandalized my car, and mine was the only one done in the entire parking lot of 1000 cars, I would be pissed, but I would not think it was the fault of "the movement".
I never did that. You are restructuring my statements into things I never said.
I really should have stopped reading right there...
Wow... just f'n wow.
The New Yorker article posted a few pages back presents FACTS about the well-known creators and primary orchestrators of OWS (Kalle Lasn, Micah White, etc), and you're not even willing to read it?
You would blame the movement, as any normal human would do.
I actually meant the generic, plural you...sorry for the confusion. It is good to see that you (singular you) do not consider the OWS movement to be a peaceful one.
Did you miss my answer?
I will write it again. I would NOT blame the "movement". I would blame the asshole that did it.
"Normal" is not acceptable. "Normal" should not generalize like that. Your definition of "Normal" is the same propensities that perpetuate racism and other discriminatory acts.
Um, you are taking my comments out of context. Again. The OWS movement is non-violent. Some groups that have been attending events hosted or organized by OWS have been.
They do not reflect the general feeling of the movement, and have not been instructed to promote such acts of violence by any reputable source from within the movement.
Again, you are making things up to fit your premise.
What did the movement want? On September 20th, three thousand miles away from Zuccotti Park, White and Lasn tried to write a manifesto in the form of a letter to President Obama. They sought to have banking-industry regulations tightened, high-frequency trading banned, all the “financial fraudsters” responsible for the 2008 crash arrested, and a Presidential commission formed to investigate corruption in politics. “We will stay here in our encampment in Liberty Plaza”—Zuccotti Park’s post-occupation name—“until you respond to our demands,” the letter concluded

Nice cherry-picking of Lasn's ultimate motives and agenda... /rolleyesHere PaleHorse... I humored you and read 4 pages of that. Now, I still have never heard of this guy, nor what the importance of him is. Judging by the domain whois I'll give you the benefit of doubt and go along w\ it being true.
But, fact of the matter is, there is no centralized leadership. That's why you're seeing so many people come out in force. That's why you're seeing so many disconnected fringe groups in the mix.
...
All of that is sound. What's wrong w\ fixing things and holding people accountable for throwing our country into a depression?
And you know what? If that really is 100% correct, that only backs up what I've been saying over and over again... OWS is about ending the corruption, holding people accountable for the fraud that's put us in our current financial situation...
So, now that I've wasted time reading 4 pages of the link you provided. Please tell me why this Lasn guys involvement would matter at all?
It sounds like we all agree. So what's the big deal? Is this Lasn guy a bad guy or something and we should discount the protesting of real issues that effect every american?
That WashPost article is a total fluff-piece. The "interviewer" didn't once challenge Lasn on his more radical beliefs.http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...behind-it-all/2011/10/12/gIQAC81xfL_blog.html
Well cool. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Here's a good interview w\ Lasn in which no extreme ideas are spouted and all of his answers are really spot on.
But yeah, do tell me what is wrong \w this Lasn guy. All I can find are allusions to an article he wrote years ago in which he pointed out the frequency of jews in the GWB administration.
Of course lots of people pull the anti-semite card if you mention jewish people in any context.
Beyond that I don't see anything else suggesting he's some horrible guy.

IOW, our goal should be to cleanse, not to eviscerate or replace, the current system.
Wonder how many of the nearly 8 million Americans will join the Occupy movement?

Millions set to lose jobless benefits
Last December, amid persistent joblessness, Congress agreed to extend federal unemployment benefits for 34-53 additional weeks, beyond the standard 26. But the extension will expire at the end of the year, if it's not re-approved--a lapse that would cause nearly 1.8 million Americans to lose their benefits in January (pdf), according to the National Employment Law Project, which supports an extension.
During 2012 as a whole, around 6 million Americans--including Dawn Deane--would likely be thrown off the rolls, the Labor Department estimates.
But amid the various policy debates, it's easy to lose sight of the human side of the issue. The sheer scale of the population affected, for one thing, is magnified by record levels of long-term joblessness.
In June, Deane, who is 49, was laid off from her human-resources job at a Philadelphia nonprofit, where she made over $50,000 a year.
"I'm very scared," she said. "I'm doing everything except for going out there and actually physically protesting. And I think I'm gonna get to that point."
Whaaaa! Whaaa!
I am losing my free money and am too entitled/lazy to take an 'underclass' job!
Whaaaa! Whaaa!
You are really telling me that these people couldn't find *any* job in 3 years?
These poor babies might need to join the real world. Enough of their funemployment.
Likewise, if 1 of 10 1940s left wing protesters and activists knew who Henry Wallace was, or that he took his marching orders straight from the Kremlin, I'd be surprised. That doesn't mean they weren't doing his bidding. It's a simple formula: Find a bunch of weak-minded losers, feed them altruistic-sounding propaganda, and have them attack the institutions you want destroyed. It's the origin of the term "useful idiots".All of the points touched on in this are things any real american would be behind.
This is enough for me. But still... I've been told that Lasn's link to OWS is fabricated on another forum I frequent. And you have to accept that alot of people joined the ows ranks after seeing the police brutality going on.
If you can find 1/10 ows protesters who knows that guys know, I'd be surprised.
Hell, if Hitler was reincarnated and was calling for the heads of wallstreet fraudsters and an end to corruption in the government I'd still back it.
I agree.
Have some fucking sympathy. SWTOR is just releasing and these people are going to have to go back to work instead. You cold hearted bastard.
