OWS is still being discussed? Even Fox has stopped talking about them.

People keep bumping the thread. I'm pretty much done with it. I don't really agree w\ shutting down ports and stuff like that.

All of the core issues of ending government curruption, and holding people accountable for crimes they've committed that have resulted in the whole country being in a depression... all of that stuff is just a no brainer.

OWS is still relevant.

This whole payroll tax cut drama is yet another example of why movements like OWS and yes even the TEA Party Movement are so very much needed.

I bumped it because the Dilbert cartoon was funny, and spot on with the foolishness of the OWS nonbathers.

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with the charmers from the #Occupy movement, but I was doing the Christmas tour to the kids places and handing out toys to the grandkids.

http://www.wbtv.com/story/16416265/...ptown-after-setting-fire-to-the-american-flag

They were burning a couple of American flags which is perfectly legal political speech (kind of like giving money to politicians I guess), but they needed to be safer about it. They needed to burn the American flag in a fire pit and further from flammable #Occupy tents.

Occupy is practically the only movement on behalf of the people, among the massive lobbying industry and a few small public interest groups.

on behalf of what people?

Communist and anarchists.

Most of the OWS crowd is a bunch of freeloading slackers.

Only a real slacker would know, so what corner do you hang at?

Except they do not command much of any respect, even amongst "the 99%".

Do you believe they command respect when they keep proclaiming their non-violence?

To the rest of the world, it's like that annoying little shit who gets right up in your face, and plays the "I'm not touching you" game until you punch his lights out. Sure you are the one who gets in trouble for punching him, but in the end you gain more friends while he lost friends.

The ignore feature is used by those who do not have the mental strength to view opposing views. I would not put Craig, or even Ausm, on ignore even though we usually disagree on things.

Opposing views are vital, they help you understand your own view better. If your own view cannot survive the assualt of an opposing view, you need to change it. I routinely take bits and pieces of opposing views and incorporate them into my own as needed. To not do that is stupid.

Nice job by the Occupy organizers today.

As much as the Republicans in here wish it was dying and going away they would be wrong.

Anheuser-Busch is a German company now so I am not surprised they pulled out of the parade after 58 years.

Occupy protest follows 123rd annual Rose Parade

On the heels of the two-hour parade came anti-Wall Street protesters in a pre-arranged demonstration.

The thunder of the retreating marching bands mingled in the air with chants of "Banks got bailed out, we got sold out" as the Occupy the Rose Parade demonstrators retraced about 1.5 miles of the 5.5-mile parade route before veering off for a rally near City Hall.

They carried a 250-foot-long banner that said "We the People" to represent the U.S. Constitution.

Some also held a 70-foot-long octopus made from recycled plastic bags that represented the tentacles of perceived corporate greed.

As the protesters marched by, some Rose Parade spectators yelled "get a job" while others snapped photos and cheered.

"It's kind of crazy but kind of exciting," said Alana Olvick, 26, of Valencia, Calif.

The 2012 parade was the first in 58 years without the famed Anheuser-Busch Clydesdale horses after the company withdrew in a change of marketing strategy.

I guess a nationwide movement with 400 people in it impresses you, it sure doesn't impress me. You could get more people to attend a foosball tournament in Pasadena.
You're being intentionally dishonest again. There were 400 protestors at that single location. There are hundreds of such groups scattered around the county. For example, the Occupy Des Moines protestors have been in the local news several times per week. There has been no violence, so there's no national coverage.

You should ask yourself honestly why OWS threatens you so much.

Large groups of idiots roaming free should be somewhat threatening to everyone who doesn't want local parks and streets littered with Marxist pamphlets and human feces. In this case though I think you mistake threat response with a good old fashioned jeering.

Lovely set of talking points, you parrot them well. Unfortunately, it's no more meaningful or intelligent than jabbering about how all Republicans are closet homosexuals and racists or that all corporations are corrupt.

Were, what a bunch of horseshit. You should know better then buy into that. I have never seen any feces in a camp, they do not even let people smoke cigarettes within the camp and have trash patrols.

Want to see shit and garbage? The last Stanford football game parking lot I was at. Suburban people are freaking degenerates! What the hell? They are pissing off the roofs of their cars, groping women, all this nonsense about OWS camps seems to me like more projection and old 1960s smear tactics from protests back then.

After volunteering at the camps here it was really eye opening going to that arena to work. Rural/suburban life imo is nothing but a incubator for crazy people. What really sucks is all the suburban rejects come here and pee all over our streets and drink booze all day and act like they just came from mommys house.

OWS camps? People have always shown to be respectful and courteous to one another along with the community. At least at OWS SF. Oakland is a bit more rough, but then Oakland is Oakland, whatever, I stay away from the 510 unless I totally have to go across the bay every year or so.

I quoted the police figures from out of the article. Either you didn't read my earlier post or the article concerned, but your claim that I am being intentionally dishonest, is.................. intentionally dishonest.
