Well, even a little ole GWB critic like me has no present reason to accuse GWB of complicity in the N. Korea nuke test---but for GWB it may be the God send he needs to save his butt in the mid term elections.

Republicans hold both - but now have house by a smaller majority. That is all. When both parties are parties of no action or bad action...the one in power tends to stay in power

Could go either way---a whole 12 hours now and GWB has not reverted to Bozo the clown diplomacy yet---must be mellowing in his old age.

The N. Korean chess game is just started---quite a few more moves will be played in this one by election---and GWB---by playing tough on terror---could have it
backfire on him big time and publically. So I await developments---and just point out the process is just starting---its too early to conclude anything yet.

Especially when Kim and GWB are playing the game with a different set of rules.

I think the damage from the Foley scandal has already been dealt and will no doubt have a lasting effect on the electorate. The image of a corrupted Republican party is in the minds of voters, and a NK nuke test isn't going to erase that.

As Dick Morris said, this is not a Republican or Democrat scandal, it is a congressional scandal.

BTW: everyone seems to complain about "congress" and then they go vote for the same congressman they've had for years and years. It is always the other people congressmen you don't like, yours is almost always fine.

No the Foley scandal is specifically a Republican scandal. That is exactly how the electorate is seeing it based upon polling that I've seen.

All that being said, this is not a bipartisan scandal. Foley was a Republican, the Speaker a Republican, and all the people with demonstrable knowledge of Foley's transgressions are Republicans. Moreover, the Republicans are the ones who've positioned themselves as the party of "family values."
