Hi All,

I just recently bought an OCZ Gamexstream 850 and am somewhat worried about the +12V and +5V lines.

Using both a software voltage monitor and a Fluke DMM, I'm getting 12.619V and 4.812V on those lines. About 5.2% high on the 12V line and 3.8% low on the 5V line. Both of these numbers are within spec of the PSU according to the manual but getting pretty close to the maximum.

I thought the ATX spec called for 5% tolerance on these rails? Should I RMA it?

Thanks,

NP

Anything above or below 5% is not good. I would RMA it just to be on the safe side. It's not worth the risk.

The question that I would have, is that since it is within the official tolerances, if they would authorize an RMA?

That's what I was afraid of. What a drag . I hope OCZ is kind enough to do an advance exchange. I have a brand new 8800gtx sitting here which NEEDS this PSU and it's going to be really hard not being able to use it until I get a replacement.

That is a good question. If it's within the stated tolerances, then I don't think there is much you can do, but I am still iffy on it being over 5% on the 12V rail.

How and where are you measuring the voltage? Do you have a load on the PSU? (any kind of load or did you just jumpstart it?)

I find it odd that both the software and DMM readings are the same. In any case RMA it to the place you purchased it from for a piece of mind.

I measured at a Molex connector with the system full on using a NIST calibrated Fluke 189 DMM. I too was surprised how close the software measurement was to the DMM.

Did you RMA at the point of purchase?

If not, send me an email so I can take care of it, email in sig.

Thanks
