OCZ Modstream 450W

OCZ Modstream 450W. Is it good or what? Or is the Antec True480 better? Price is the same.

Minor off-topic but I just bought an OCZ Powerstream 420 and it kicks a$$. IMO OCZ makes superior power supplies to Antec.

It depends if you really want to go for looks and the modular design of the Modstream. THe Powerstream delivers more power though and has voltage adjustment.

well, im not really going cheap now am i - these are all top notch PSUs, just a matter of which 1 best fits my needs, w/o spending extra money. ive already spent $1700 (not including PSU) on everything else (see sig)
On top of the first question, I'd also like to add this question: Mushkin Value RAM, or Corsair Value RAM. Again, it mostly boils down to company preference, right?

Didn't say you were, it was more of a general advice. if the Power Stream is better than the modstream, I'd get that.

well, it apparantly is much better, according to what ive heard some people say. but does that justify the slightly heftier price tag? anyways, i think i might end up going with the powerstream 420 anyway. it should be able to handle wuts in my sig and a few upgrades down the road.

I don't have any experience with corsair value but Corsair XMS is awesome.

Voltage ajustment means the psu has screw like things on the back which alows you to incress or decress voltage. VERY nice feature if you ask me.

420W should be enough for now and a few upgrades (maybe an FX-57 next year). Or should I empty my pockets and shell out $40 more for the 520W powerstream?

Personally I'd get the Antec TP480, I don't trust any OCZ components, not after the number of things that have gone wrong with them in the past anyway.

Get the powerstream for performance, and the modstream for a little bit less performance, but a lot more looks. I have the Modstream myself, it looks so freakin sweet(mirror coating, blue LED, cables) and it's REALLY quiet, I'm not sure which is quieter, my Zalman CNPS7000 on low or the modstream. The only thing I don't like about it is that it isn't 100% modular and that the cablse are a b!tch to bend and move around. Also, if you really should get a UV CCFL for the cables, they look sweet when lit up. As for the question of the Mushkin vs. Corsair value, just get the one that's cheaper or on sale for less. I went with the Mushkin, it was $5 cheaper when I bought it.

Here are some quick pics of my case, sorry for the bad quality and slightly messy wiring. I'll try get some better pictures later.
EDIT: It looks like I have a lot of wires because I have every Mostream cable plugged in (except the PCI-e) and I also have rounded UV IDE and floppy cables.

So, the Modstream is a 20 pin jobby? Does anyone have any issues running it on a 24 pin mobo?

I have the Modstream, and it can convert from a 24pin Mainboard connector to a 20pin.

It has an extra 4 pin connector which latches onto the main 20pin connector to make a full 24 pin connector.

And, it also has the seperate 2nd 4-pin connector which connects to a seperate 4-pin socket on newer motherboards (at least to me it's new - my old motherboard didn't have or need such a connector). If anyone can explain what that one is for, that'd be cool.

I think it's just an extra 12v connector to help power some of the stuff connected to the mobo.
