Well I know CAS isn't such a issue on a 64x since it's on the CPU. But does anyone know between OcZ and Corsair, I might get some better performance? I've been running Corsair for the past few years, but seeing that OcZ has been coming into ranks, makes me think do I want to try some of their memory.

These are my memory choices for them:

Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2PT 1GB DDR400 XMS3200:

Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2PT 2GB Kit DDR400 XMS3200:

OCZ Gold GX 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR :

OCZ Gold GX 2GB (2 x 1GB):

Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2PRO 2GB Kit DDR400 XMS3200 ProSeries:

THANKS

the OCZ titanium has even lower latency for 2GB, and if you're going overclock, Mushkin makes the best 2GB modules (DDR500, 3-3-2-8)

I'm not going to overclock I'm just wondering if there might be better performance between OcZ or Corsair that one can really notice on a AMD 64 X2 3800

Now I thought about the Platinum Edition / Revision 2, but people are saying with 64x AMD lower latency isn't going to matter much, so I'm not really shooting for this, but just trying to figure if there is better performance between these 2 brands, or they'll feel about the same and you won't notice the difference between running, say Corsair over OcZ.

That's all I'm really trying to buy is the better performer in a 64x AMD or they're both brands are going to feel very similar in speed and performance.

THANKS

tomshardware has a very recent, mediocre review of the latest 1GB pairs...they're all pretty comparable. Pay attention to the overclocking headroom, and don't trust Tom's max clocks... They got my 3500LL wrong.

Ok I'll check out the review. I've decided I'm going to go with 2GB 2x1GB, now between Corsair and OcZ would the performance and speed between these companies be about the same?

Sheesh this seems difficult to say what I want, LOL

I guess many people say not to waste money on a 64bit AMD, high end memory doesn't matter, but there seems to be a little better quality and performance with it, even on a 64x system.

I want the best 2GB set I can buy for a AMD 64 X2 3800, but I know CAS is not the issue here, so is there really any differences when it comes to a 64x CPU, or any decent ram is going to compare the same, you're not going to tell the differences from one to another on a AMD 64bit?

So even if I buy 2GB CAS2 OcZ or 2GB CAS2 Corsair I won't be able to tell the difference between them, the speed and performance will be equal?

Basically what I am LOOKING for is if somene can tell me between these 2 companies there is a difference in speed and performance and one over the other will make a big difference.

Th PRO series stuff is really big (physically) ram...keep that in mind, because it may get in the way of a big heatsink.
The OCZ stuff is probably marginally faster (performance wise) in overclocking.
As far as 3200C2 stuff goes, the 3500LL is maybe just a bit better. Of course, price will have a lot to do with that - when I couldn't find the 3500LL stuff, I was ABOUT to buy the 3200C2 - performance is comparable, according to my online research.

Ok I'm a bit weak on memory, this is for a Abit KN8 SLI, I'm starting to forget the idea of different PC versions. I thought certain motherboards could only use a certain version and I thought the motherboard I was using only accepted PC3200.

THANKS

you are basically overclocking with 3500 memory because the mobos are all tested with PC3200. It's a small overclock to the HTT, but most boards can handle more than that. Just search for overclock results on your board and I'm sure you'll find it can run a bit higher.

Depends what you mean by "stress". Will it break anything? Very unlikely, unless you start playing with voltages. The most likely sign of stress will be that the RAM "makes errors" as your PC computes. This might be as innocuous as a pixel being coloured wrong, to a system crash. Either way, you can put DDR500 on any board which is used to using DDR400 - and i wont cause a problem. The real question is whether or not the motherboard can take advantage of the faster RAM. As far as voltages go, just don't exceed the RAM manufacturer's specs, and you should be OK...oh, and make sure the case is adequately ventilated.

Don't forget the article just published right here at AnandTech on this topic:

http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2676

The Mushkin Redline XP4000's beat out Corsair, OCZ, and G.Skill...

I've got the Redline XP4000 2G kit in my Asus A8N-SLI. A friend of mine has a Patriot 2G kit - other than that our setup is identical, and I consistently get better performance results than he does... the only thing I can attribute it to are the Redlines...

The mushkin are not DDR400, I'm not going to OC my chips, or board. The Ocz I bought are DDR400.

Here are my chips:

On a DDR400 level it didn't look like the Mushkin outperformed the Ocz by much at all and in some cases it didn't, plus they cost a lot more then the Ocz, which have nice tight timings for 2GB, from what I have seen the best!
