How: It uses a 1/6 HP compressor, and cheaper gasses. That means it will pull down to about -10 under load. For reference, my Vapo pulls down to -22 under load. Also, the controller is probably not as spiffy, and the level of detail isn't probably up to the same spec.

Running a vapo costs about $25-35 a month, but that's 1/4 HP, this is 1/6, so I'm guessing about $15-22 a month. About like running an extra high and computer-end monitor.

Not really, they have the advantage of selling a hell-of-a-lot-of-em using the OCZ brand name and Chilly1's name. Hence, they get more bulk discount than Asetek or Prometia.

This will be a lower end phase changer. There is no denying that. But this is the first time sub-ambient cooling is available for less than $500 without resorting to dice or LN.

Low end? -10C is good enough. As for it destroying watercooling, unlikely. Watercooling for $300 can get you a complete loop with CPU block, GPU block(s), and perhaps a more compact cooling system.

-10c is still low end for phase change. And lots of people spend $450 plus on water cooling, so this could still be a water cooling killer. What someone should really bring out is a $300 water chiller. That would rock.
