Do you have the SKU? Everytime I go to the OD's in my area, they can't find items (even ones I know they stock) if I ask them to search for them by product name.

FYI!!!

I have the 4 port version, but I don't use it on any of my high end stuff, because when you switch back and forth, you lose sync, and you end up with a fuzzy screen at higher resolutions.

However, you got a bunch of servers with command prompts or rarely-used GUI's, I don't think it would be nearly as much of a problem.

Got mine from Amazon.com when they had the $50 off $200. They had a good price, Staples carried this Pro 4 port also, PM and use a $30 or $40 off coupon (if available)... The Pro 4 is not cheap though.

i recently grabbed a linksys proconnect 4 port for 108$ , but i got 4 sets of ps/2-svga cables for 9$, nice heavy duty belkin cables for the omniview
+s/h came to ~130 i think (buy.com 30 off 150 which i beleive has been pulled now)

fyi, i already pulled the case off this unit, the guts are all manafactured by a company by the name of aten (aten-usa.com)
seems a 4port aten at/ps2 kvm switch will go for around 163$ w/ no cables
guess you best stick to a belkin or linksys , just an opinion

going to be using this w/ a sony es100 15" @ 1280x1024, well hopefully still need to get the monitor

I highly recommend the Cybex Personal Commander II. Very expensive on pricewatch, but pretty damn cheap on egay.

The Personal Commander II switches between 4 systems.

I purchased a linksys 2port w/ cables about a year ago for $88 or so. Cables it came w/ were high quality and basically would have cost me as much for just the cables as it did for the switch+cables. (So be careful when you buy the cheap switches somewhere, you still need good cables-- maybe post a link to that $9 set refered to above--would be cool!)

As for performance, No problems with display, refresh, etc. I have it attached to a Hitachi 19" CM751 and looks fine (can't tell the difference between connected to switch and direct to video card). I only go to 1024x768 @ 85Hz, but, even tests at higher res / Ref were ok (just too much for my comfort).

Only drawback with the linksys is the ergonomics... it has 3 sides that cables plug into (Back, Left, and Right). So, no where to put it that it doesn't get in the way. I usually have it sitting on top of a PC, but, it still looks kludgy.

i just got the Linksys compact 2 port version. Came with 2 cables.
Buy.com was about $55 and the $10+shipping got it to me for around $50.00

I concur with jon3. 1024x768 is all you can do on this thing before the screen gets fuzzy. I hear that you need better [read: expensive] cables to get a good picture at higher resolutions. I bought a four port and it works great most of the time.

Does anyone know if the Linksys ProConnect Compact 4-Port KVM Switch continues to send signals to the mice and keyboards of the inactive computers? I have a dying old style 4 port manual switchbox that I use for my monitor, but I don't use the mouse and keyboard functions because those functions lock up on the computers that are switched to the inactive position. So I have 3-4 keyboards and rodents on my desk at any given time. Outpost has the Proconnect for $85 shipped, but offers the Edimax 4 port KVM switch for $93 and the Edimax expressly has software emulation to keep the inactive peripherals alive. The Linksys model supposedly handles 1920 vs. only 1600x1200 for the Edimax.

Also, does anyone know if using a AT-PS/2 keyboard adapter or a serial-PS/2 rat adapter would cause problems with these switches? I still love my trusty, old FIC PA-2007 with its K6 300 & Windows 95A and don't want it to feel left out.

I use the Belkin OmniView 4 Port. I have been pretty happy with it, after upgrading the video cables.

The cheap cables they sell in the belkin kits don't cut it at any reasonable resolution. I got "ghosting" on my display at 1024x768 @ 75Hz. This is most noticeable on vertical lines, where the distortion causes a shadow of the line to it's right.

I upgraded to some nice, thick, shielded video cables, and now I
can run it at 1280x1024 @ 85Hz. They claim 1600x1200 resolution support in their marketing material, but I wouldn't count on actually being able to use it at that resolution.

I have the Linksys ProConnect 4-port (SVIEW04). It worked really well when running at 1024x768 with a 17" monitor -- no ghosting at all. Once I bought a 21" monitor and started running at 1280x1024, I started to notice some ghosting. This particular model has a VGA input, a PS/2 mouse and keyboard input plus an AT keyboard and serial mouse input for each computer. This one does maintain power to the keyboard/mouse of each computer when switching between systems. It can also be switched by pressing one of the four physical buttons or with a keyboard sequence.. very nice feature!

BTW, if anyone plans on running SGIs on these switchboxes: with my linksys switch, Shift-/ gives me a / instead of a ? even on an SGI keyboard -- works fine if directly connected to the SGI. Coworkers who use the Belkin 4-port omnicubes have to disconnect and reconnect the keyboard whenever they switch to an SGI.

I'm guessing NO, but hey, it doesn't hurt to ask.
