Cool, I guessed right! They didn't like it, but I'm not that tall, 5'8". The back is why I think I'll like it, but I'll be sure to not go over the return time. Thanks!!
I’m with them on gaming chairs. I don’t like the side bolsters that make the chair look/feel like it’s a cheap imitation of a racing seat. Just give me a good, comfortable chair to game in…but hey, whatever works for you.

This was my thought but after sitting in many chairs looking for the best "for me" I chose the amia. It didn't help that I actually found a brand new amia on CL for 175 bucks. Not reconditioned. Still had the tags and plastic on it
Damn…I should be so lucky…I found one Amia on craigslist…heavily used…for $200, 75 miles away.

I love the looks and armrests of the Gesture…but again…the price!

I recently got a La Z Boy Delano Big and tall version, it is quite nice and a huge upgrade from my old chair. Also a lot more money, but I was using the old chair for over 5 years and it was wearing out.

Damn...a week later and still zip. For me, Seattle is a 3 hour, ~140 mile drive each way, so about $65 in gas costs for my truck. Portland is a bit father...3.5 hours, ~175 miles each way, and about $75 in gas costs.

I found a couple of Steelcase Gesture chairs in the metro Portland area for $560 each...and a couple in Seattle for $700-$750 each. Leap V2 chairs in both areas are running between $400-$600 for decent chairs that aren't 20 years old. And, of course, none of the chair manufacturers will extend warranty coverage to a second buyer...even if it was bought yesterday...or 5 years ago, so no warranty for a used chair.
Those prices are putting me awful close to the BTOD/Crandall Office Remanufactured pricing. Chairs from both places come with 30 day free returns and 12 years warranty. Those will run me between $600-$800 for the Leap V2 and between $850-$1000 for the Gesture chairs. Now all I gotta do is pry the money out of my wife's tight fist...

People buy a lot of the Hyken mesh chair at Staples for about $100. Supposedly you'll want to mod the headrest if you're tall.

The $35 pleather office chair I bought from Staples previously turned out to be garbage. Seat cushion went flat, and the pleather just disintegrated everywhere within the first year.

The Hyken is rated as one of the chairs that is worse than sitting in a kitchen chair...

As I've said a couple of times in this thread, I want to get away from the kind of junk that Staples, Office Depot/Max, and even Costco sell.

I found a Steelcase leap V2 today for $120 on Craigslist. Looked like it was immaculate. I contacted the seller...it was gone within 30 minutes of her posting it.

I haven't assembled mine yet, but will do so soon. There are thousands of ratings on Staples dot com, and they are generally favorable.
While it's possible the Hyken isn't a great chair, it appears to be better than all those crappy $100 office chairs that you're referring to.

As attested to in this thread, if your budget is > $500, that opens up a much better world of chairs.

I realize this list from BTOD might possibly be geared towards chairs they sell...but many of the highly rated products on the list are NOT BTOD products...

Ended up ordering a Steelcase Leap V2 from BTOD. I found one a bit cheaper...and no sales tax...but it was from a company in Texas...but I prefer to do business with American companies.

Cost more than I wanted to spend...but not as much as I COULD have spent... (just under $500 for an outlet chair. not returnable, but still 12 year warranty)

Congrats!

Back in 2023 I bought a used Steelcase Leap V2 in Very Good Condition sold as-is from BTOD for $446 with tax. I think I would rather have a "Lamia" though, which is a Steelcase Leap Frame + slightly thicker Amia Seat. The Leap seat is a bit flat IMHO but a "Lamia" is over $800 so they are way overpriced.

I considered a Lamia…but like you say…way overpriced. Essentially, they’re taking a seat from a cheaper chair and sticking it on the Leap. SHOULD be cheaper…not more expensive.

I'm two weeks in on my Titan Evo XL Nanogen, and other than the name, it's perfect for me. I went with the Nanogen, because the seat isn't as firm as the Evo XL. The back is just what I needed, as it cleared up my back pain. It only been a couple of weeks, but so far it's the best office/pc chair I ever sat in.

The best chair is the one that fits you and feels right to YOU.

I FCKN HATE FedEx. When I ordered my chair, delivery was set for today, Saturday, 3/1. A few hours later it changed. “Your shipment will arrive early! Delivery on Friday, 2/28.” OK, fine…so I cancelled few things so I’d be home for the delivery…tracking never changed from
ON THE WAY

Departed FedEx location
SAINT PAUL, MN

Then last night…
Now arriving, Monday, March 3.

The last thing in tracking still says

Departed FedEx location
SAINT PAUL, MN

Fckrs…Monday is fine…but why didn’t they just tell me that to begin with instead of leading me down the primrose path and making me cancel other plans?

I’ve never had issues like this with UPS.
