Office Holiday Party: Technical Question

We've got an office Christmas/holiday party coming up and we'd like to set up a photo booth of sorts that would allow guests to have their picture taken and then combined with a "winter scene" of our choice, could be shared (with their consent) to various social networking platforms, etc.

Does anyone by chance have experience with a specific software package and/or knows of a convenient way to tether a DSLR or digital camera to a laptop or desktop?

i think a webcam with some photo booth software would be easier. no need for super quality photo booth pictures.

use "photo booth" on a mac and drag in a pic of a custom user backdrop. can setup 8 different backgrounds to choose from.
