Ah, so it is... I searched 'tantrum' and didn't find anything. The one on CNN has commentary so it's a little more insightful.

That's cool, nice to see some sort of justice come to a cop. I'm sure this will disappoint some of the people from the other thread though, who like to pretend when something like this happens to someone else that cops are always in the right.

That's okay, I hope the posters in that thread see this one. Maybe you could post a link to this thread in that one.

I like that they called it a tantrum, lol. Makes the whole thing seem as juvenile as it really is.

good to see its hitting the big news channels.

the officers career is over now. and thank goodness we don't need officers like this.

the cops got away with it..

I'm sure this will disappoint some of the people from the other thread though, who like to pretend when something like this happens to someone else that cops are always in the right.

Most of the cop apologists in the other thread found themselves unable to defend the cop, so they used one of the following argumetns instead.

#1. The kid was asking for it by daring to inquire politely as to why he got pulled over

#2. The video is a fake

It was all very compelling stuff.

Here are my thoughts.
1. The officer went way too far.
2. The boy was trolling for it and frankly had something coming. They tape I heard showed he clearly was being suspisious especially with his evasive answers.
3. The officer will probably lose his job over it. (and should be probably. Not for spouting off to the kid, but being dumb about it.)
4. The information coming around now, is this kid and a friend drive around SL looking for these confrontations to tape them. Most of the cops know them and don't bite. (I live in SL and that's what I'm hearing anyway.)
5. Chances are now, the boy and his family will be on the short end of the stick should they really need the police. You can bet they are going to be busy on another call when these guys need help. So, he managed to get a cop fired, after he looked for the confrontation, and he and his family may pay for it down the road in spades. Brilliant.
6. We don't need angry cops, but we don't need kids like this either.

The video was a fake? Are you retarded or something? It's CNN! The officer was suspended.

Are you illiterate or retarded?

Heh, I knew after that video was posted yesterday that it would cause a shitstorm for the officer. Youtube/Google Video have such a tendency.

I'm sorry, WHAT? So asking a completely reasonable question when a cop pulls you over is reason to have "something coming"? The cop shouldn't lose his job for threatening the kid, intimidating him, and threatening to make up completely bogus charges to arrest him, but for being dumb about it? Are you serious?

Who CARES if this kid goes around trying to tape this stuff? THE COP WAS WRONG AND ABSUSING HIS POWER. If Cops didn't act like this is in the first fucking place, the kid's video collection would be pretty goddamn boring, now wouldn't it?

The kid did NOTHING suspicious other than asking why he got pulled over. You are so completely and fantastically wrong about this I don't even know where to begin pointing out the flaws in your logic.

I agree with you about 97%...but c'mon...don't you think the kid was just a little smarmy about it?

I thought he was being fairly polite, but even if you're right, that shouldn't have had any affect on the stop.

No, the kid was hugely smarmy. He was trying to push the officer's buttons. He happened to find the righ combination.
When you go looking for a fight, it's as much your fault when you get in one as it is the fault of the guy who swings first. I have no sympathy for this kid and would award him zilch. I wouldn't let the officer off scott free either.

I would agree with you if it was just the officer blowing up at the kid. But inventing charges up is ridiculous anyway you cut it.

Good to see this but you know now the cat was let out of the bag the cops are going to amend their procedure when pulling someone over. The first thing they will ask if the individual is videotaping this and if so to stop. If they lie or refuse they will arrest them on the spot. :|

You know it's probably coming. I never give a cop a hard time. I have folks that take care of the tickets for me.

You know (this is probably starting to sound "Mcowenlike") tracking is going to be hardwired into cars so that if one speeds the system records it automatically debiting the person's bank accounts. It's only a matter of time.

Yes he was dumb for that. That's my biggest problem with him. That is why I wouldn't let him off either.

Still waiting on your justification for saying this, Gneisenau. What'd the kid do or say that was "hugely smarmy and trying to push the officer's buttons".
