edit - the funny thing is that it appears that the Jets were caught doing the same thing last year at New England but New England just ejected the guy and didn't report him to the the NFL. Mangini crying over spilled milk just wanted to get back at him.

I think the Pats will probably goto the Super Bowl this year. They are stacked and tonight's game proves that they are truly elite. But their past games should come with an asterisk with Belicheat and Shady Brady conniving together.

Show me the rule that stealing signals is illegal. Guess what there is not. So, it's legal. What were the Pats penalized for exactly? Not stealing signals but for video taping them. If stealing was illegal, why does every team have three people sending in signals(two of them are fake)?

Why does Mike Shanahan admit to stealing signals by hiring lip readers?

Its not like if they didn't have the camera there at all during the game that the jets would have won. And don't think that the Pats are the only team in the NFL to do this. The Pats are just the first ones to get caught. And IMO video tapping some hand signals is not THAT big of a deal. This just gives pats haters something to...hate on us about.

They couldn't take advantage of the videotape because it got confiscated so early, it takes time to decode the signals. When you cheat on a test, you benefit as soon as the pencil hits the paper. Bad analogy. And they did get punished for it, they lost a 1st round draft pick plus got fined.

Actually, that is incorrect. Bonds has admitted to using steroids. He claims that he didn't know he was using them. Which everyone knows is BS.

I understand the underlying ethical standards the league is trying to uphold. But they video tapped signals omfg. Like there arent 30 guys in various parts of the stadium trying to read the lips and hand signals and relay that information back to HQ.

I remember doing these things when I was 12 years old in baseball. It became a game to figure out what the pitcher and catcher were doing along with the base coaches.

This wont stop the practice of stealing signals, only keep them from video tapping it.

This whole thing seems like such a contrived situation.

1. Everybody knows everybody does this stuff.

2. It was obviously retribution against Bilicheck for the prior situation, which Bilicheck handled well, while this coach did not.

3. The team obviously doesn't absolutely need this.

4. Everybody wants to jump on the Pats because they are good, thus, you get this situation.

as far as comparing it to cheating on tests. Please, are you 12? Using strategy to figure out everything you can about the opposing team isn't cheating. If they were on the other sideline with microphones, looking over coach's shoulders, that'd be different, but they weren't.

This is much ado about nothing.
