I'm certainly no expert, but I'd assume that they get to sell the SB to a city that bids that most, and neither team gets a home field advantage, so it's more balanced...

There is also preparation for the game, can't start if you don't know where it's going to be. Weather is another issue, Super Bowl in Green Bay in -40F?

Good point. I guess they don't worry about it for other sports because the championship is spread over multiple games, and those are split between the 2 'home fields' Didn't think of it that way.
