I can. Think about how rare it is. There are what, a max of 41 playoff games?

In a 100 years, how many play off games have there been? 3,000 or so? How many of those games had the following:

-Tie game going into the bottom of the 9th.
-3 players get on base without any of them scoring.
-Hit a home run after bases are loaded.

until 1969, the only playoffs in baseball was the world series. so a lot fewer games than 3000.

Grand Slam Single??

The game carried a 2-2 tie into the 15th inning, where Mets pitcher Octavio Dotel gave up a run on a Keith Lockhart triple, making the score 3-2 Atlanta.

The Mets loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning against Braves reliever Kevin McGlinchy and Todd Pratt drew a walk, tying the score at three.

Robin Ventura, the next batter, drilled a 1-1 pitch over the right-centerfield wall for a grand slam, sending the Mets players and fans into a frenzy. Ventura was mobbed halfway between first and second base by his teammates. The official scorer awarded Ventura a single on the grand slam because he only touched first base.

Another instance of a Grand Slam Single:

July 9, 1970: Dalton Jones of the Detroit Tigers loses a grand slam against the Boston Red Sox when he passes teammate Don Wert on the base paths. Jones pinch hits for Jim Price and belts a 2-2 pitch from Vincente Romo into the RF upper deck for a grand slam. However, he passes Wert between first and second and is called out, ending up with a 3-RBI single.

July 4, 1976: Tim McCarver passed Garry Maddox on the way to second base for his grand slam single.

Cant believe that in a hundred years of baseball no ones hit a walk off grand slam in the playoffs.

That is why baseball is so great. For as long as it has been played, and for how long the seasons are, you always see something new or something that has never happened before.

If Detroit had hit a walk off Grand Slam tonight, I get the feeling that you wouldnt have any issues recognizing that as the first official one...
Yes, I'm arguing a trivial point because my team lost. Like it really fucking matters if it's the first postseason walkoff grand slam or not. You got me, buddy.

I don't get it. Miggy and Martinez are just looking horrible in the batters box. I have seen Miggy hit everything thrown at him, it just sometimes gets caught. Now, he's swinging through pitches, that happens so rarely. {tinfoil hat time} I wonder if he is suffering from that dizziness he had when he came out of the game in the last week of the season? I noticed last night that he's wearing cotton in his ear.
If Miggy was Miggy, this series would be a whole lot different. We are not going to win anything on the shoulders of Kelly and Rayburn.

Trailing by one run has never felt more insurmountable. Against a shitty pitcher, no less.

Wow nobody is safe around Hamilton whether he's at bat or in the outfield! It'd be comical if someone didn't actually die.
