Fister and Porcello throw similar stuff, cutter, change, 4-seamer, and an occasional curve. I wonder if Porcello picked up any pointers from last night? The formula might just be to keep busting them inside. Inside up and inside down.

The guy was lights out all year long. I liken his fast ball to Valverde's in that no one really knows where it's going to end up, but AA's slider is just money.

Best stretch drive pick-up by any team, and that includes Hunter Pence, who helped the Phillies a lot.

I'm rooting for the Tigers. Underdog and all, but also they're a storied original franchise, and not a vagabond, carpetbagger, Johnny-come-lately conglomeration that's just the bastard child offshoot of one of a series of failed attempts to make a franchise work in DC like the Rangers are.

Ty Cobb was a Tiger. Mickey Cochrane and Hank Greenberg were Tigers. HOF'er Al Kaline was finishing up his career when I was a young'un. Denny McLain and Mickey Lolich and Jack Morris are some of the twirlers who have shined for the Tigers.

And if the long running and vastly underrated DP duo of Alan Trammel and Lou Whitaker had played together in New York, every fan today would know their names. They manned the middle infield for nearly two decades and excelled both offensively and defensively.

Wow, another extra inning thriller! Hats off to Detroit they have a great pitching staff and a pesky hitting lineup including the batting champ, and they have been in every game until the last swing.
